INTRODUCTION
Whether the Russian Blue actually originiated in Russia may never be known. From the different names, a whole host of regions could be considered: Bleu Russe, Spanish Blue, Maltese, Archangel cat..The English made no such claims and they were the first to show the breed at an exhibition. The Russian Blue remains one of the rarest cat breeds.

APPEARANCE
The Russian Blue has a long firm body that is slightly slimmer than the European Shorthair. In order to preserve an overall impression of elegance and graciousness, the bone structure should not be too strong, A wedge-shaped head with a flat skull is carried on a long straight neck. Ears are rather large, wide open at the base and set far apart and high on the head. The large almond-shaped eyes are vivid green in colour. The legs are long and slender with small oval paws, and the tail is fairly long and tapers to a point. The coat is short and thick and looks quite plush. The top and undercoat are the same length. The original coat colour is blue with silvery, shiny tips. The white is the new addition to the breed.
