INTRODUCTION
Whether the Turkish Van is a colour variant of the Turkish Angora - or an old and completely separate breed which remained unchanged for many years in the area around Lake Van in Turkey (from which it takes its name) – is debateable. What is clear is that this beautiful white cat with its typical red markings does exist and has many fans around the world. It was first recognised in 1969 in Great Britain. From a breeding point of view, it is a challenge to achieve the correct distribution of markings on the white coat.

APPEARANCE
Solidly built and similar to the Turkish Angora – only differing in the colour of the coat. The Turkish Van has white fur, red markings on the face broken by a blaze, and a similarly red coloured tail.
