Description
As much as this kills me and is absolutely gut wrenching to write, and it is likely I will change my mind another 1000 times, I can't put this off any longer.
Muffin is looking for a forever home.
She will not be going to just anyone, she will be staying with me until the right person comes along.
Obviously I wanted her to go to someone we know preferably so I had originally tried all family, friends and friends of friends before anywhere else.
She MUST be the only dog in the household. This is non negotiable. This is NOT because she is dog aggressive, she is not reactive to other dogs, she is actually fantastic with other dogs, but the relationship broke down some time ago between Muffin and our other dogs, and this has been irreparable, so putting her into a household with other dogs would just be irresponsible and quite frankly stupid.
It is also very important that this is a lifelong commitment to Muffin, because I already feel horrific allowing her to go, so I couldn't bear it if she was passed around and not with one family forever.
She turned 4 in April.
She has a dry eye and nostril on one side, due to an old scratch to her eye, which has damaged a nerve. She needs eye drops, for this regularly to prevent infection in the eye, but this is easy enough to maintain and doesn't cause her any issues. This must be maintained or she will experience eye infections and this wouldn't be fair on her, when it is so simple to maintain.
Other than that she is amazing.
She is fantastic with our children and with other people, she is very friendly and loving, she just cannot repair the bond that she has lost with the other dogs in our household and it isn't safe for her, for the other dogs, or for the humans long term.
I have tried EVERYTHING to make it work, but it has reached a point where Muffin just cannot stand the other dogs, so we have to keep them separate at all times, which is a logistical nightmare.
If I had a huge house with completely separate areas to house them so that they would never cross paths, she would be staying.
This has been ongoing for a LONG time now, but we have been trying to work to resolve it, and it's reached a point where we know that's just never going to happen.
Thank you for reading, and if anyone is interested, please let me know and we can have a conversation.
