It's with a heavy heart that unfortunately we are looking for a new home for our macaw Elmo. My partner inherited Elmo from his grandad. He purchased Elmo a few months before he passed away he hand reared Elmo from a very young baby. He has been living with us since February this year. Elmo has a ring on his foot however we do not have the paperwork but can direct you to the breeder of Elmo, he is roughly 18 months old being the age where he is at a good time to be taught and bond with his owner.
The reason we need to rehome is in all honesty we don’t have the time he deserves, he’s tame but obviously with a new owner he will need patience for him to trust you. Theese birds needs a lot of time spent and interaction, unfortunately we can't give him this due to a busy lifestyle and work commitments. Elmo's cage is 6 months old purchased brand new we also have the black out cover for night times as Elmo lives by routine. 8am till dark. We also have one free standing feeding perch and then another home made play perches made out of trees. (Can send photos) Elmo does love to sit on your lap and enjoys rolling over with his ball and having his belly rubbed.
Elmo spends most of his day out of his cage. We have thought long and hard about this decision for us as a family and the long term for Elmo and this is the right choice all round.
