Description
my lovely Whippet x Patterdale girl is now looking for her forever home. She’s 2 years old and has had such a heartbreaking start in life — yet despite everything, she’s turned into the most loving and loyal little soul.
Before coming to me, she lived a very sad life. She was owned by drug users and, from what I was told, was used in dog fights. She was also bred far too young — before she was even a year old — and when she was rescued, she ended up being teased by a child, which sadly left her nervous around young children. When she came to me, she was pregnant with her second litter. I took her in because she was going to be put to sleep if nobody stepped forward.
When she arrived, she was completely shut down — terrified of people, dogs, collars, and leads. She didn’t even know what a walk was, had no training, no recall, and didn’t trust anyone.
Since then, with patience and love, she’s come so far:
🐾 She now has brilliant recall
🐾 Walks beautifully on a lead
🐾 Can be around calm dogs without issue (though still unsure of high-energy ones)
🐾 Is affectionate, loyal, and eager to please
🐾 Absolutely adores cuddles and being close to her person
She’s still nervous of loud noises and shouting, so she’ll need a calm, understanding home with someone who can continue helping her gain confidence. She’s not suitable for homes with young children, and would do best as the only dog so she can have all the one-on-one attention she thrives on.
If it wasn’t for my own ill health and a baby due in January, I would be keeping her without question. She means the absolute world to me, but it wouldn’t be fair to her to stay in a situation where I can’t give her the consistency and training she still needs to fully overcome her anxiety.
She truly deserves a quiet, loving home with someone patient who will give her the gentle guidance and affection she needs. In the right hands, she will make the most loyal, loving companion.
She hasn’t been spayed yet, as her pups were only recently weaned, but this can be arranged by her new home once she’s fully settled.
