Description

It’s with an extremely heavy heart that we have to rehome our beautiful collie boy. Please read the full description as he is a special case. Only collie specialists, or trainers will be considered or potential working farms. This is Kaido. DOB 01/04/2024. He’s a small collie between 11-12kg. Unfortunately he’s just too reactive for us to help further. We have already spent thousands on helping him with trainers and behaviourists but financially we can’t carry on. He is such a wonderful, beautiful boy and loves to play endlessly. He’s very clever learning all the basic tricks and even play dead, middle, speak and whisper. We even taught him how to stalk to help with his breeding instincts. He loves fusses and cuddles and belly rubs are his favourite. He loves playing with his ball and chase games. Any fluffy toys unfortunately don’t last that long. He would thrive being the only dog in the house but there may be some possibility of a female companion with careful greeting. He is usually fine with female dogs but we haven’t experienced this within a home environment. He doesn’t listen to corrections so a playful dog would suit better. He is very nervous with children and barks at them so perhaps a child free home would apply. He is motion reactive - birds sometimes and TV. He barks and jumps up if there is anything fast paced. He can be aggressive to strangers in the home, growling and barking. But outside of the home he loves to meet and greet everyone. He used to show signs of resource guarding however we haven’t seen a case for a while, maybe due to well management. If he is unwell or in pain within the home he has given us multiple warnings and bitten. He would have to have some form of muzzle training. He doesn’t like to be groomed. Brushes are a big no but we have worked very hard with consent based training with towels. He is house trained and crate trained, although this may have to be reimplemented within the new home. He was an accidental litter from a working farm. His dad was a Merle and his mum was black and white. He only has one descended testicle which we aren’t sure if playing a part in his reactivity or not. He was on raw but now moved to pure pet food. He has a sensitive stomach we believe so we decided to reduce the protein. So far it’s helped. Overall, this hasn’t been a decision we have made irrationally. It’s been an extremely hard decision and we want what’s best for him. If you think you can provide the best of care for him we welcome your messages.
