Description
We’re heartbroken to be writing this, but due to unexpected changes in our work commitments, we are reluctantly looking for a new, loving home for our beautiful boy, Ozzie. He deserves a lifestyle full of attention, companionship, and affection — everything we’ve always given him and what we’re now, sadly, unable to offer consistently.
We originally believed Ozzie was a full miniature dachshund when we got him at around 5 months old. However, as he’s grown and developed, it’s become clear he’s likely a miniature dachshund cross — possibly with a small breed like a chihuahua. His upright ears and slightly different frame give him a unique look, and he’s smaller than a typical miniature dachshund, making him even more of a pocket-sized companion!
Ozzie has had a wonderful start to life with us — he’s loving, playful, and clever. He’s toilet trained, with only the very occasional accident, usually when out of routine.
He’s been raised in a busy household with regular visitors and is well-socialised — he’s used to a lively home environment and is great with children. He can get very excited when meeting new people, often greeting them enthusiastically, but always in a friendly and affectionate way.
He’s also fantastic with other animals. We have two cats he gets on with brilliantly, and he’s confident and playful around big dogs — he absolutely loves a good runaround and play session with them!
Ozzie is currently on a mixed diet of Tails pâté and dry kibble, which suits him well and helps him maintain a healthy weight. He is fully vaccinated, and we have all the paperwork confirming this, including the date of his next booster — not due until next year.
He is also up to date with flea and worm treatment, currently using Droncit and Advocate on a regular schedule.
Please note: Ozzie has not been neutered. Following veterinary advice, we’ve delayed neutering until around 2 years old to reduce the risk of IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease), which dachshunds and similar breeds can be prone to.
Due to the recent changes in our work schedules and reduced time at home, Ozzie has developed some mild separation anxiety. He’s a very affectionate dog who thrives on company, so we’re ideally looking for someone who can spend plenty of time with him, especially during the day, and help build his confidence when left alone gradually.
He’ll come with everything he needs to help him settle in — including his Omlet crate, Bugalugs doggy shampoo and deodorant, and a selection of toys he loves.
This has been an incredibly hard decision, and we are committed to finding Ozzie the perfect forever home. If you believe you can offer him the love, time, and stability he truly deserves, we’d love to hear from you.
