DescriptionIt is with a heavy heart that I am writing this advert. We are in the unfortunate position of needing to rehome our 6 year old cockapoo.
This is not an easy decision, but we have no choice to ensure the hapiness of the our dog and the safety of our toddler.
Since bringing our new son home 18 months ago our dog has not been happy at all, we have tried many ways to make it work, to no avail. Our dog has now nipped (no broken skin) our 18 month old son unprovoked whilst we were beside both dog and toddler. Currently we are keeping the dog and our son seperate at all times, so our poor dog is spending the days in the utility room only able to come out in the evenings, which is no good for him, he is an attention needy dog (as all cockapoos are) and loves to be near people all day, so I worry how this will affect him.
He is a lovely dog and has always been good with our daughter, who was 6 years old when we got him, but he really isn't happy about the new addition. He is great on the lead and really loving.
We are looking to rehome him with someone who has plenty of time to spend with him as this is what he is used to and deserves, also we will not rehome him to a family with children under 10 years old in the house or visiting as again this is not fair to him.
I don't think he would tolerate living with cats as he always tries ot chase them when we are out. He always used to be good with other dogs, but he was attacked by a dog 2 years ago and has been nervous around other dogs since, so I would say it is best he is the only dog in the house.
He walks well on the lead, his recall is also very good and he loves a nice long walk in the fields.
If you are interested I will propbabaly ask you a million questions and would prefer to do a home visit as well, the reason for this is I do not want him to be in the situation where he needs to be rehomed again.
We are based in Northamptonshire.
