DescriptionIntroducing, Beautiful Benji, a two-year-old intact German Shepherd with an abundance of love to share. Sadly, my son and his family cannot keep him due to their son's severe autism. Benji's high energy, excitability and lively demeanour is too overwhelming for their son, so they have had to make the difficult decision to rehome him.
They are currently searching for a kind, experienced, and active owner who can provide Benji with the necessary training and regular exercise he requires. It's essential that he has plenty of stimulation to keep him engaged and to burn off his energy.
Benji is an outdoor enthusiast and a fast learner who already knows basic commands like sit, down, leave, off, touch, and paw. He is also well-behaved off-lead and always comes back when called.
Benji is an affectionate dog who loves spending time with his owner, having snuggles and giving lots of kisses, He loves playing ball when he's out on walks. He is extremely loyal and very eager to please. However, they do believe that he needs to be an only pet and were advised by his previous owner who they got him from in November last year (2023) that he can sometimes be funny with men, Although he loves my son from first meeting him.
He has lived with young children before and currently lives with 3 young children but his boisterous and excitable nature makes him better suited to a home with older children.
Benji is an only pet currently and in his previous home was an only pet there too. However my son was told that he used to join his last owner's mum's shepherds on pack walks, which are also his mum, dad, and brother. but we're not sure if that is actually true as when they've walked him he can be extremely vocal if he sees another dog when out on a walk plus my son isn't the most confident when walking him which probably doesn't help so Benji needs a confident owner and further training.
Benji's confidence needs to be built up, he requires training in maintaining a calm demeanour. Other, than that once he knows you he is a loving, affectionate, and excitable boy who sits nicely for grooming and isn't bothered by loud noises or traffic.
Benji was raw-fed from his birth, but now he is on a combination of kibble and raw food. His favourite treats are rabbit ears and liver cake.
In summary, Benji needs to be an only pet at least initially whilst he receives training he needs an experienced shepherd owner, Who is patient, active and can provide Benji with the training, exercise, and stimulation he requires. He would be better suited in a home either with no children or with older children who he can't accidentally knock over, Benji is a very loving and loyal dog who would make an excellent companion for the right owner. If you believe you can provide Benji with a loving home, please contact me.
