DescriptionALFIE is a friendly, cute, up to date, genuine, eye-catching ginger & white Dartmoor Hill Pony yearling colt with unique sought after flaxen coloured mane & tail.
Estimated to make approx. 11.2hh.
(Several large breeders have already expressed an interest but we love him & would prefer it if he could go to a kind home, therapy centre or small pony business.)
Friendly without being rude, overbearing or spoiled.
Never hand fed nor given treats to avoid vice.
Still has much more to learn, things to see & people to meet but loves kids (supervised of course), playing in the paddock, giving kisses & going for walks.
He is a colt not a rig. Both testicles have dropped ready for gelding. (Vet checked.)
Regularly worked with by kind experienced trainer & fussed over/looked after by an autistic teen.
Halter broke & respectful when being walked.
Even if he gets excited when my daughter runs with him he knows to keep a nice safe distance.
Good to load & travel.
Can live in or out.
Been easy to catch in or out- comes right up.
Been good to tie up, brush, wash, rug & worm.
Well wormed with good wormers. Been through standard isolation - observation period on arrival at the rescue.
Not seen any sign of sickness, laminitis, sweet itch, asthma, lumps or bumps.
Was weak, wormy, wild & thin but is coming on.
Microchipped & Passported.
Blue passport with photo done officially by the Dartmoor Hill Pony Society.
Had 1st & 2nd Flue & Tetanus Vaccinations.
Been good to have all four feet picked & trimmed.
Gets farrier/feet trim every six weeks. Given his age & background amazing for vet & farrier.
Training on going.
When four & mature enough, gelded etc. should make a lovely, friendly, nice looking, easy 11.2hh children's lead rein/riding pony project.
Maybe even a party pony, therapy pet or Pony Club project. Some one is just going to love him. He would love to have a new friend or family to bond with & go out for adventures with, as his best friend has just gone to his new show home/ future lead rein home. Happy to go out alone or in company.
Re-homing fee £900 as seen to right home/small pony business with suitable place to keep him. Willingness to learn & kind confidence more important than experience, but we cannot re-home any pony to anyone under 18 for welfare reasons. Not a loan or lease pony.
Once paid for in full & money cleared the pony & passport is fully yours. Signed receipt given.
We find people tend to appreciate & look best after 'what' is truly theirs. Open to viewing & vetting.
Not for profit.
Open & honest advise given.
Cheap cost price transport can usually be arranged to anywhere in the UK - just not unseen.
Happy to give a quote if post code is provided.
Updates always appreciated but not obligatory.
Although nothing special we have been running a rescue, for the love of it, to help people & ponies for the last ten years.
Our ponies usually end up very child/disabled friendly.
Many have done well at Pony Club & showing. Some winning over all shows, supreme championships, going Aintree or British Juniors.
Even if Alfie might not go as far or jump as high, by virtue of size, he is likely, in due course, to bring someone/a family much joy.
Once tamed & trained etc Dartmoor Hill Ponies usually make excellent, eye catching, hardy, children's lead rein or first ridden ponies.
If genuinely interested & able to re-home, please tell us a bit more about yourself, what you are looking for & where you will keep the pony..
If we have anything suitable you can arrange to come and meet the pony.
Whole family welcome.
We are near the Haydock Races, Junction 23 on the M6.
Hope we can help.
Thanks!xuch!
