A Sallander rabbit is a medium-sized, muscular breed with a compact body, short neck, and broad muzzle, typically weighing between 2.7 and 4 kg. It has light grey fur with darker markings on the flanks, cheeks, and belly, and very dark grey points on the face, ears, feet, and tail. Originating from the Salland region in the Netherlands, it is lively and somewhat skittish, not suited to rough handling or homes with young children, though it can be affectionate if gently handled from an early age.
