Description
This is a post I really, really didn’t want to have to write.
Mochi is a year and a half old and is one of the most special little cats. We absolutely adore her, and this isn’t a decision we’ve made lightly or one that we are rushing into.
Since moving home just over a year ago, we’ve noticed that Mochi hasn’t seemed quite as happy as she used to be. She doesn’t eat quite as much, spends a lot of her time wanting to be out on our cat-proofed balcony exploring, and we feel she’s finding it harder to settle and enjoy herself with our other cats.
She absolutely loves to play, but with our other cats being quite confident and dominant when it comes to play, we feel she sometimes struggles to get her own space and really be herself.
Mochi is also becoming increasingly sassy with us 😂 She is very much a cat with boundaries — she loves lap time, cuddles and scratches, but she will absolutely let you know when she has decided she’s had enough! She shows her love in her own little way, and honestly, we are obsessed with her personality.
She loves being up high, climbing and exploring, and can often be found asleep on her wall shelves. She LOVES playing with a stick and would thrive with someone who will give her lots of enrichment, attention and opportunities to explore.
She also has a lovely bond with our male cat Wasabi, although he’s slightly less enthusiastic about their relationship than she is 😂🤍
We are considering whether Mochi may be happier as the only cat, or potentially in a very calm home where she can have more of her own space and attention. We would prefer a child-free home and ideally somewhere with a secure catio, cat-proofed garden, balcony or another safe outdoor area where she can explore. She has been an indoor cat her whole life, so she cannot go to a home where she would be allowed to free-roam outside.
This is absolutely not an urgent rehoming situation. We are not looking to simply find her a home — we want to find the home. If that perfect person never comes along, then we will continue to love her and care for her here.
We just want to be honest with ourselves and put Mochi’s happiness first. She deserves a little life where she can completely be herself, have all the attention and enrichment she wants, and feel truly content.
She is incredibly loved, and that’s exactly why this is so hard. 🤍
If you genuinely feel you could offer Mochi the perfect home and would like to know more about her, please message me. Please understand that we will be very selective and there is absolutely no rush. 🐾
