💔 Unfortunately, Cactus (Yanik) is back for adoption… again.
He was in his new home for just 2 days before the decision was made that he was “too much.”
This is despite very clear conversations about who he is — a young, active, very social dog who craves connection. The family spoke with us, with his previous family, and still were not prepared for the reality of his needs.
They shared videos, which we reviewed together with a professional behaviourist we work closely with. The conclusion was very clear: This is simply a dog asking for attention, reassurance and direction. Not a problem dog. Not a dangerous dog. A dog whose needs were not being met.
🐾 Meet Cactus (Yanik)
Cactus is around 1.5 years old, low to medium-sized, full of life, love and personality. He is one of those dogs who connects instantly, who wants to be involved, who brings energy and joy into the home.

💔 Surrender Background
Cactus was originally rehomed because in his first home there was a young child, and his strong desire for interaction and closeness became overwhelming. He could jump up or stand on the child in excitement, but he never showed any harmful behaviour. Older child adored him.
He then moved to a new home — but again, without giving him time to settle, without meeting his needs, he was returned within days for mouthing and active attention-seeking behaviour.
But this is what happens when a young, overwhelmed dog is placed into a new environment without proper outlets or guidance. It always gets worse before it gets better — and he was never given that time. We sent a lot of support, individual advice, mental enrichment/calming activities, but.. opinion was already made.
🐾 More About Cactus
Cactus is a dog who needs engagement. When he gets in a new home with unknown people, he feels overwhelmed or unsure, he seeks connection. He may mouth, follow, push for attention — not because he is “too much,” but because he is asking for help to regulate.
What he needed in that situation was simple: redirection, structure, and meeting his needs first. Physical exercise, mental enrichment, calm sniffing walks, something appropriate to focus on — not just being ignored and expected to switch off. We are happy to provide support and guidance.
When his needs are met, he is a wonderful, loving, affectionate boy. He learns quickly, he responds well, and he settles fast.
Unfortunately, new move, new environment will increase his overwhelm. He needs a chance to settle — not another quick rejection.
🏡 Ideal Home
Cactus needs a confident dog savvy foster or foster-to-adopt home who understands active, social dogs and is not afraid of a dog who wants connection.
He needs someone who can provide proper physical and mental stimulation, who understands that behaviour like mouthing is communication, not threat, and who can guide him with calm, confident energy. Cactus IS NOT mouthing when settles and when his needs are met- that wasn’t a case in the first home!
He need structure, not pressure. Engagement, not avoidance.
💞 Cactus is not “too much.”
He is a young dog full of love and life, who has not yet been shown how to channel it.
Give him a real chance — and he will show you exactly what an incredible, loving companion he is. 💙

All dogs are C.Brucella tested before travel (licensed laboratory certificate provided).
