Full Advert Details

Sugar is a 15hh registered, 9 years Connemara. Sugar is very good on the ground, falls asleep while being brush ( and she’s the cleanest grey ) good to turn out/bring in. She does get fresh during winter, she needs to be in a busy routine during winter otherwise she gets a little fizzy, during summer you could leave her for weeks and she’ll be fine.

She’s a very sensitive mare and needs a rider with soft hands, she does prove to produce lovely work once she’s warmed up and becomes nicely round. Although she still needs work with her trot to canter/ canter to trot as she likes to rush . Sugars favourite thing to do and definitely her strong point is jumping , she will jump anything off any stride and has never actually refused a jump, I’ve jumped her up to 1m5 course and she’s free schooled up to 1m20, she can get a little fizzy coming up to the jump but she’s easy to hold back, she’s also been xc and absolutely loved it jumped Every thing first time and didn’t look at anything .

Hacking, she hacks alone and in company although she behaves more when alone. She’s not fazed by much and you could easily take her for a canter and not worry about her spooking at something silly although she can be a little scared of lorry’s and tractors super close to her, she’s fine if there passing on a wide road but not county lanes. I ride her on the buckle most of the time hacking as she’s really well behaved .

Sugar can get excited if hacking with more than 2 horses, it’s definitely controllable but she leaps with first canter. With fun rides she will jog . With less than 2 she can go at the front or back she’s not bothered. She will come with all tack including some rugs.
Videos can be requested

She is only simply for sale because I am going back to full time groom and I unfortunately won’t have the time for her. Based in north Bristol and homes will be checked. She would make a fantastic show jumper/eventer or a good hunter. Tack can be negotiated.

Please text before calling as could be working.

Horse Buying Checklist

Before contacting or visiting the advertiser for this Connemara. Please make sure you have printed and read this checklist fully. Do NOT buy a horse from the advertiser unless you are happy that they follow all the advice on the list.

  • Do your research first
Getting a new horse is a massive commitment, so make sure you have researched the breed fully and have the time and commitment necessary to care for the horse. You can read our detailed Information guide about horses for potential new horse owners.
  • Confirm that the advertiser is genuine
You should verify this by arranging to visit the horse at the advertisers stable, if they make excuses or try to ask for money or a deposit without seeing the horse, or if the advertiser attempts to deliver the horse or meet you at any other location than their own home, then please do not agree to this. NEVER send money online for any horse. Please read our article on avoiding potential scams.
If you are unsure that the advertiser is genuine, please report them to us.
  • Is the horse over 6 months of age?
Horses must be at least 6 months old before they can leave their mothers.
  • Check the Health of the horse
It can be difficult for the average person to check if a horse is healthy or not, so if you decide to adopt or buy the horse, make sure that you get an equine specialist veterinary surgeon to perform a full veterinary assessment of the horse before you agree that you will buy the horse.
