Description
(TLDR: Maisie is an anxious dog who needs a home with a trainer or someone very experienced with aggressive resource guarding and no children)
Our beautiful little 2 year old Cavachon Maisie is looking for a home.
Maisie is the most joyous, fun, characterful, loving little ball of fluff you could ever meet. She loves to play fetch, chase bubbles, go adventuring in nature, and cuddle up on the couch. She's an extremely intelligent dog, and picks up new words and activities very quickly. For the past 2.5 years she has brought so much happiness to our lives, so having to say goodbye to her will be beyond heartbreaking.
Unfortunately for all her positives Maisie is also quite an anxious doggo, and try as we may we've never managed to build her confidence in a meaningful way. This anxiety has manifested in some attacks on us in the past; usually if she's startled while resting or if she thinks a new treasure she's found on the street is in danger of being stolen from her. We have taken steps to improve this behaviour and she's definitely getting better. She's never attacked anyone else, and we are confident that if clear boundaries are set from the start she won't feel the need to do so, but as a couple who are about to start a family we can't risk the possibility of her getting nervous around a baby. At 10kg she is a small dog who couldn't do much damage to an adult, and while we'd like to think she wouldn't knowingly snap at a small child it's not a risk we can take. With that in mind we'd ask that her new home be free of children.
Her ideal new home will be with someone who has other friendly, calm dogs, and/or has knowledge and experience with training dogs. We'd also be much happier knowing that you'll be able to spend a decent amount of time with her, and preferably give her access to woodlands and nature.
Saying goodbye to our little girl is the most difficult thing we've ever had to do, so please only enquire if you genuinely think you can give Maisie the loving, safe home she deserves. We want to take some time and get to know her potential new parents to be sure she'll be going to a home that's perfect for her, with people who will love and appreciate her.
