Some dogs arrive confident and carefree… and some arrive carrying the quiet weight of uncertainty. Candy is the second kind. 💛
After spending three long months in commercial kennels with another charity who sadly had no foster homes or premises of their own, Candy has finally come into our care. She is safe now — but she is still learning that the world can be kind.

🐶 Possible Breed
Candy appears to be a Shepherd-type mix — possibly with Labrador or Collie influence. She has the soft expression and gentle build of a Labrador cross, paired with the intelligence and sensitivity often seen in Shepherd breeds. 🐕
Her medium build and 20kg weight make her a lovely, manageable size — not too big, not too small — just right for an active but calm family home.
💛 Her Personality
Candy is still very nervous. She has had little stability in her young life and is understandably unsure of sudden movements or pressure. She is not aggressive — but if she feels genuinely threatened or cornered, she may react defensively and could nip. This is fear-based behaviour, not malice. 🥺
With patience, space and gentle reassurance, she is already beginning to soften. She watches quietly. She learns. She wants to trust.
Candy is a sensitive soul who will form a deep bond once she feels safe.

• A calm, patient home
• Experienced adopters who understand nervous or shy dogs
• A predictable routine
• A secure garden
• No very young children
She would thrive with kind guidance, gentle training and time to decompress. Rushing her or overwhelming her would set her back. Supporting her at her pace will help her blossom beautifully.

Adrian and the team at Friends inDEED have been wonderful. We were able to go meet our dog with her sisters and we were in frequent communication during the adoption, and since with updates etc. We were also provided with some food, and lent a harness & lead to bring her home. She has already been incredibly well trained for a rescue dog as we have had no toilet accidents and she is already wonderful on her lead.
