Description
Rocky is a medium sized boy who is around a year old He was found on the streets of Romania and taken to our public shelter in Curtea De Arges where he remained until he travelled to his UK Foster home in December 2025.
Rocky is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped He has a cropped tail and no known heath issues
Rocky is a young dog who has settled well and make good progress since his arrival in Scotland His foster says he “is very friendly and loves to play with other people, children, dogs and cats”
Rocky loves meeting new people and is happy to greet visitors to the home He approaches with his tail wagging and enjoys a fuss He can be a bit too enthusiastic with his introductions but he is working on his manners.
Rocky’s foster family have started some training with him and he can now sit and give a paw on command His Foster Mum feels he is very trainable.
Rocky is a young dog who displays a lot of typical puppy behaviours This is not uncommon especially given the fact he is experiencing family life for the first time Continuation of basic training will be required in his forever home and attending local puppy training/socialisation classes is recommended
Rocky currently lives with another dog who he is very keen to engage with, he loves to play but due to her advancing years the feeling isn’t mutual! He does not show any food or resource guarding issues, quite the reverse, he is happy to share and be friends
We feel Rocky would enjoy living with another dog especially one with a similar personality and energy levels but this is not essential as his Foster Mum says he is happy in his own company
Rocky met cats in Romania without incident and he lives with a cat at the moment He approaches her in a friendly manner with his tail wagging and wants to interact He has never shown any aggression or desire to chase even when she has given him a telling off for getting too close!
Rocky could live with dog savvy cats in his forever home with slow, sensible introductions
Rocky lives with two children aged 8 and 10 and he loves their company Fostering Rocky has been very much a family affair and the 10 year has been a key figure with Rocky’s training
We think Rocky would be a wonderful addition to any family but due to his size and enthusiasm we recommend any children in the household are aged 8 years plus
Rocky is not quite house trained yet but this is something he is working on, he uses the available puppy pads when indoors His current home doesn’t have a private garden
With regular access to an enclosed private space we don’t imagine Rocky will take long to accomplish this particular task!
Rocky isn’t crate trained, he sleeps alone on his dog bed in the lounge overnight after going for a quick walk before bedtime.
Rocky has been left for a few hours during the day, he can initially bark but with something to keep him occupied (toys, longer lasting treats) he settles down and is quiet when his Foster family return
Rocky accepts a harness and lead, he is very excited when they appear as he knows he will be going for a walk! He is walked without the resident dog currently as he is distracted by her presence and wants to play.
Rocky can walk well for long periods if there isn’t much in the way of environmental stimuli He will pull in a friendly manner if he sees people and other dogs and is quite strong There has been an improvement with this since he first arrived, further training will be required but his Foster Mum reports he is a quick learner
Rocky can be destructive at times, this is felt to be age related more than anything else Preventative measures in place, tv remotes etc out of reach, and the introduction of chew toys/longer lasting treats to keep him occupied have seen a significant reduction in this behaviour
As a young dog he will benefit from consistency and routine in his adoptive home along with regular exercise and enrichment activities to keep him busy
Rocky’s Foster Mum says the following about him :
“Rocky is a very very sweet dog. He is still very much a puppy with a lot of typical puppy behaviours. He loves chew toys, antlers, horns, rawhides and so forth. He is extremely friendly and has never shown even the slightest bit of aggression He has made a lot of progress in three weeks. He is an absolute sweetheart, extremely playful and friendly.”
