Eddie – 3-Year-Old Male Lhasa Apso Looking for a Loving, Dog-Free Home 🐾
Unfortunately, we're having to make the very difficult decision to find a new home for our Lhasa Apso, Eddie. This isn't something we've rushed into, and finding the right home for him is far more important to us than finding one quickly.
A little about Eddie

• Fully house trained

• Has had obedience training
• Can happily be left at home for reasonable periods
• Non-destructive in the house
• Loves his walks
Eddie has been a much-loved member of our family and is a lovely little dog with plenty of personality. He's had obedience training and knows sit, down, stay and spin.
He's completely house trained and crate trained. He can also be left alone in the house for periods of time without being destructive, and he doesn't wee or poo indoors.
Eddie absolutely loves going out for walks. He has fairly good recall, particularly if you've got a favourite toy with you, although in new or busy places we generally keep him on an extendable lead.
Why are we rehoming him?
Our circumstances have unfortunately changed since bringing a male Belgian Malinois puppy into the household. We also have an adult female working Malinois, and both Malinois are working dogs that I require for my job.
Since the new puppy arrived, Eddie has struggled to adjust to having another male dog in his home and has become increasingly intolerant and territorial towards him. This has resulted in several confrontations between them, and Eddie can also become defensive when we physically intervene.
For everyone's safety, we're currently keeping Eddie and the puppy separated.
The Malinois puppy is already larger than Eddie and will obviously become a very large and powerful adult dog. We're concerned that if the situation continues and the puppy eventually starts defending himself, Eddie could be badly hurt.
We therefore feel that the kindest and safest option for Eddie is to find him a quieter home where he can be someone's only dog and doesn't have to deal with the situation that's currently causing him stress.
This behaviour is the reason for rehoming him and we want to be completely upfront about it, but we also don't want it to give the impression that this is Eddie's entire personality. Prior to the introduction of the new male puppy, Eddie had been a very good and much-loved family dog.
The home we'd like for Eddie
We think Eddie would be happiest with an older person or couple in a relatively quiet household where he is the only dog and can enjoy being someone's companion.
Eddie isn't particularly good with children, so we're looking for a home without children living there. Occasional younger visitors aren't necessarily a problem provided they understand that Eddie needs his own space and, where appropriate, he can simply be settled comfortably in another room while they visit.
Food & grooming
Eddie is currently fed on dry biscuit. We'll happily provide some of his current food when he leaves so his new owner can either continue with it or gradually transition him onto a food of their choice without suddenly changing his diet.
As a Lhasa Apso, Eddie has a long-growing, non-shedding coat and needs regular grooming. His new owner needs to understand the grooming requirements of the breed and be prepared to have him groomed approximately every 6–8 weeks at the latest, alongside normal brushing and coat maintenance at home.
We genuinely believe that in the right quiet, dog-free home, Eddie has an awful lot to offer someone.
