Description
Looking for a loving home for our galah parrot. He is 9 months old. He loves scratches and can spin and do 'paw'.
He is good around kids, hes been around my 2 since we got him no issue, he will go sit with them, fly to them etc, hes also had my eldests friends come round and my neices and hes always been great, will pretty much interact with anyone for a sunflower seed.
He is fully tamed in the sense that he will sit with you, fly to you, doesnt bite but he isnt fully trained yet. He does do a couple tricks, will step up onto your arm and flys to you but we are still working on being able to handle him fully, he doesnt like his wings lifted or back/tail touched etc and we havent managed to get his harness on him yet.
We have put alot of work in with him and honestly he is a lush boy. He goes in his cage no bother now on a night, though during the day it may take a few attempts, he'll step up no bother but when he gets close to his cage he'll fly off and I have to go get him to step up again and repeat, but he always goes in after 2/3 times, we just repeat "time to go in your cage" to him, so hes starting to understand, just doesnt always want to when hes still fully awake.
If im being completely honest in regards to rehoming him, we were a bit impulsive in getting him and have bitten off more than we can chew in regards to commitment, I love him to bits and if you come see him you'll see he really is lovely. I keep worrying im doing the wrong thing rehoming him but I feel it would be better for him while hes still young to go to people hes going to be with long term who have the time for him.
We also have 2 dogs and he is fine with them in general but everytime they go near him he flys off which means he cant freely wander on the floor and things cause hes constantly on the look out for them.
I would say the only real issue we have with him is that he is a real food fiend. If your eating anything when he is out he will be there instantly and try to eat it, I just shoo him off but he is persistent.
He is obsessed with lego, we had alot of lego on display and I had to get a cabinet with doors to stop him pulling it apart, when the kids play with their lego he likes to sit with them and pull the bricks apart. The kids actually enjoy it and made him little towers to destroy, he doesnt chew the blocks, he just likes dismantling it. Guessing just cause its colourful.
Hes not yet speaking but has started whistling and trying to mimic the odd word.
He is on a diet of low sunflower seed seed mix, pellets and variety of fresh fruit and veg. He seems to enjoy foraging for his food so we put it in a large container with hay and he will forage. He also loves getting apples whole and will pull them apart to eat.
He comes with a cage, perches, toys, food etc.
Any other questions I am happy to answer, we just really want him to go to a good home that has the time for him and will be his forever home.
