Description
This is our last little girl of the litter, she was selected by a family at birth, but sadly a change in family circumstances, meant she could not go. She is the most delightful of our puppies.
Her parents are clear Non-Carriers of Genetic Diseases CEA, MDR1, DM, PRA, low DMS. Therefore, as well as being a family dog, we would be happy to place her in a family who were truly interested in preserving this breed, subject of course to licensing and breeder criteria.
Our objectives as breeders are to bring clear, healthy, non-carrier Rough Collies down to the Southwest of England and the UK. Meeting the standards of the Classic Rough Collie depicted in Royal Kennel Club, together with Somerset Council level 5 Licensing for Dog Breeders. We only breed clear healthy good natured mating pairs. The lines from this litter are notable UK, USA and Portuguese lines. All with exceptional breeding of the past. We do not stop there, we are always searching for Diversity in the gene pool, we are constantly investing in new Genes from other countries and importing to the UK.
Already qualified and licensed in the field of dog boarding and handling, before we started breeding, We wanted to learn more, nutrition, stimulations, brain development, Early scent introduction, touch, textures, Early Neurological Stimulation. Gaining more qualifications, as we studied and completed Level 3 Certificate in Dog Breeding Litter Socialisation and welfare we run protocol past our Mentors, we test and check the science, ensuring our puppies, carry on the legacy of the very essence of the Rough Collie, with the health it should have.
Everything a puppy needs to be a balanced member of both human and canine worlds, within its age and development. As owners, we rarely think of the work our canine companion must do as they accompany us on the walk. Our foremost objectives, for these puppies, as a family dog, which is one of the most demanding jobs a dog can do, being a family dog, it must fit in, not make mistakes, not follow some of its natural instincts, when the thought are so strong, it wants to follow a scent, to run, when the urge takes it, it wants to go, but knows it must return to call. The instinct to dive for cover or overreact when it sees a plastic bag fly to the side of it or in front in a wind, the dog who becomes over reactive with stimulation as you are overtaken by a bicycle, the urge to chase or flee unexpectantly. Turning into a dog who can make a mistake, that will cause an injury, as it overreacts. The job of being a family dog, when so much is expected of the things it should and must do, can be very hard. Whilst the dog isn’t aware of the consequences of biting someone, the owner is, an owner knows that not only will draw consequences for themselves, but it could also cost the dog, its life. The world of the human expects a lot from a dog, so our objective is to prepare them, to set the puppy up to succeed with a new family, is the best of start, we can and do give.
From day 3 we begin with placing the puppy in different positions, helping to develop the brain and desensitised from being shifted around. Age related stimulation, noise, household, traffic, garden, building noise, walks in the buggy from 5 weeks old, rides in the car, people approach, a walking adult alongside, introduction through fencing to resident adults, younger, adult interaction, a swing, wobble boards, soft play steps. A ground piano. Interactive toys, all age related and within the puppy’s ability to cope. Teaching toilet training and recall.
Today, these puppies are our 3rd Generations, we search the world, and top breeders, for our new Sires, bringing them to the UK, making them available to breeders who hold the same ethics as ourselves. To breed for the health of the future Rough Collie, keeping within standard, temperament and everything that the Rough Collie Depicts, A dog who will love you all of its life, A dog you will talk about, with love in your heart, for the rest of your own.
