It breaks our hearts to have to write this, but we are looking for a very special forever home for our beautiful girl, Reya. Reya is around 1 year old and was sold to us as a Patterdale Terrier. She is believed to be a Patterdale cross, although we don’t know exactly what she is crossed with. She is an incredibly affectionate, loving little dog who absolutely adores cuddles and being close to her people. 🥹🩷 Once she loves you, she really loves you! Reya is also a very energetic young dog and needs an owner who can dedicate plenty of time, exercise, training and mental stimulation to her. She is clever, lively and full of personality, and she needs someone who is prepared to put the time into helping her become the best version of herself. We want to be completely honest about Reya’s needs because finding the right home for her is our absolute priority. ⚠️ Reya is food aggressive around our other dog to the point they do fight around food, and because of this we feel she would be happiest and safest as an only dog. To be clear she is not food aggressive around people, just the older dog. Although she currently lives with an older dog and the two of them get along very well apart from this, this does not mean she will necessarily accept another unfamiliar dog into her home. She can also be reactive and challenging towards other dogs when out on walks, so any potential owner would need to be confident managing this and willing to continue working on her behaviour and training. For this reason, we feel Reya would be best suited to someone who: 🐾 Has plenty of time and attention to give her 🐾 Can provide lots of exercise and mental stimulation 🐾 Is willing to continue her training and work with her around other dogs 🐾 Understands terrier-type behaviour and energy levels 🐾 Can give her a calm, structured environment 🐾 Is ideally looking for an only dog so that she can have their undivided attention Reya is not being rehomed because she isn’t loved — quite the opposite. 🥺🩷 My mum is absolutely heartbroken at the thought of letting her go. But as Reya has grown older and her needs have become clearer, it has become increasingly obvious that my mum simply cannot give her the amount of individual time, attention and stimulation that she deserves while also caring for her older dog and my younger brother. This is an incredibly difficult decision, but we believe loving Reya also means being honest about what she needs and putting her happiness and wellbeing first. We are looking for a genuine forever home, not a quick or impulse decision. We will want to speak to anyone interested and make sure that Reya and her new family are the right fit for each other.
