A little bit about me in my own words
PALOMA is Spanish for dove and the charity
says this suits me because the dove is a
universally recognized as a symbol of
peace, love, and purity. They are
considered a gentle bird bringing harmony,
emotional renewal, and the promise of new
beginnings. That’s what I’m looking for- a
new beginning or any kind of start to life
because I’ve only ever just existed. I wasn’t
cherished as a baby and held in someone’s
arms or rocked to sleep. No one sang to me
or cared if I was feeling safe, hungry or
loved. I was just as worthless as the rubbish
you see in a lay-by to the world around me
& I navigated my abandonment with
loneliness & fear.
I was thrown out as a pup & didn’t know
how to fend for myself. From there I was
taken to a pound where the policy is to
make me homeless again or worse still give
me to a bad person maybe. I’m vulnerable
because I can’t fend for myself out there &
I’m dependant on humans for my basic
needs. I do consider the shelter my only
form of comfort and the closest I’ve known
to a ‘home’. Leesa the charity owner tells
me that there are such a thing as beds,
Sunday roasts, chicken, toys, doggy
friendly cafes & walks out there but I need
my special person to access them. I so
badly want to be adopted so I can enjoy
these great pleasures. I’m great with dogs
& been around cats when I was younger &
deserted & I don’t mind if you have lots of
family members, are a couple or living
alone. Resident pets are fine and if you

don’t have any please make sure I can have
doggy play dates. I’m so serene and
composed yet joyful and merry. Im the best
of all worlds because I’ve had to survive this
one and this will be an advantage in your UK
home. I
