Bear – 9-month-old Bulldog x Rottweiler looking for the right home 🐾 We are looking for a very special and suitable home for Bear, our 9-month-old Bulldog x Rottweiler. Bear came to us approximately four weeks ago from his breeder. We were told that he had previously been rehomed, but that this had unfortunately not worked out because the resident dog did not accept him. He had subsequently been kept in a crate for long periods of time and was eventually returned to the breeder. Since coming to us, we have seen lots of lovely qualities in Bear. He is playful, affectionate and loves his toys. He has formed a particularly strong bond with the man of the house who he feels very safe and comfortable around. Unfortunately, Bear has struggled to settle in our busy household, which has six adults and two other dogs. He has found it difficult to build relationships with the other adults and we have also seen signs of reactivity towards our resident dogs. We have noticed that Bear struggles to regulate his emotions in our busy home, and this has resulted in regular air snapping as a communication. This is likely due to his disrupted start in life and means that he will not settle in our home. We have spoken to a professional behaviourist, who has advised that Bear does not consistently display the more typical warning signs before air snapping. We have also observed behaviours such as whale eye, licking and signs of agitation. We feel it is extremely important that his forever home is carefully matched to his needs. The home we are looking for based on advice and our understanding of Bear: 🐾 Ideally a male-only household or a couple-only household 🐾 No other animals 🐾 A calm, quiet and structured environment 🐾 Someone experienced and confident with dogs and committed to continue training 🐾 Someone who understands that Bear needs time, consistency, boundaries and space to decompress 🐾 A home where his interactions can be carefully managed Bear is still only 9 months old and has so much potential. We do not believe his anxieties define who he is, but we also know that the right environment is incredibly important for his safety and wellbeing. We are not looking to make money from Bear. Our only priority is finding him the right home where he can settle, feel secure and thrive. We would like all of the things we have purchased for him to go with him, including his belongings and anything else that will help him settle. We will be completely honest with any potential home about everything we have experienced. We would rather take the time to find the right person than rush him into another unsuitable situation. This is an extremely difficult decision for us, as we care about Bear very much. We are trying to do what we believe is responsible and best for him, rather than putting him through further changes when our current home clearly isn’t the right environment for his needs. Please only message if you genuinely feel you could offer Bear the appropriate home and are prepared to have an open conversation about his behaviour and needs. We are happy to provide much more information, answer questions and discuss his routine, and everything we have observed. Our priority is simply Bear’s welfare and finding him the home where he has the best chance of succeeding. ❤️🐾
