Description

Patch was taken to a Romanian shelter with his siblings in October 2024, he made his way into his foster home in December 2024. He is microchipped, vaccinated and neutered. He has no known health issues. Shortly after arriving in foster he managed to slip his leads and was trapped humanely 3 days later. Due to this he will need to have at least 2 forms of leads on whenever out of the house. After he was caught he has seemed a lot more nervous of people in general and he is working to build his confidence back up. Patch is very nervous of people to begin with and can give out a growl this does not seem to be aggressive and out of fear. He would most likely prefer a soft approach to getting to know him with lots of treats and encouragement, also a safe space where he can sit and be comfortable until ready. He has not met children and although he is a lovely boy his confidence would probably be helped by a having a child free home, children of 14+ with some understanding would be okay. He was with dogs in Romania and was good with them, he is not in a home with them currently but seems happy to see them when out, it is thought a calm dog would be great for him to build confidence with and start to play a bit more. He has not met cats, he has shown no prey drive. Patch would need reassurance and understanding from his humans when entering a home, but he is the loveliest boy that is worth the effort. Patch is toilet and crate trained, can be left for 4 hours without issue. Sleeps well overnight on his bed downstairs, he is not destructive. Patch currently takes a while to be able to have a lead put on he will need continued work on this, when out he is jumpy and if he sees thing he does not know will stand behind you and needs reassurance to continue on. Patch walking with another dog friend would most likely help with this. Patch has not travelled in a car since arrival. Patches foster says 'that he is a nervous boy that has a great love for food especially cheese. He improves with his training everyday. An overall good boy that spends much of his day napping'.
