🖤 TOMMY – A VERY SPECIAL BOY LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO LOVE 🖤
Approx. 12 years old | Male | Tripaw | In UK foster
Tommy is one of those little dogs who really gets under your skin.
He has been through more than most dogs ever should, yet underneath it all is a gentle, quiet little soul who is simply waiting for someone to show him that life can be good.
Tommy was rescued from a kill shelter where he had been left in terrible pain with a badly dislocated leg, thought possibly to have been caused by being hit by a car. Sadly, the injury had been left untreated for too long and his leg could not be saved.
Since being rescued, Tommy has had his leg amputated, undergone much-needed dental treatment and been castrated. He has made the journey to the UK and is now safe in foster, beginning the next chapter of his life.
And this is where we hope someone very special comes in. ❤️
Tommy can be a little shy. He doesn’t need someone to expect too much from him too quickly; he just needs love, kindness and patience.
Give him those things, allow him to find his feet at his own pace, and we truly believe he will return that love in spades.
There is something incredibly special about taking on a dog like Tommy. You’ll get to watch a little dog who has known pain and uncertainty gradually realise that he is safe, that the person beside him isn’t going anywhere, and that he finally has a home of his own.
Knowing that you were the person who gave him that chance will be a pretty wonderful feeling.
Despite everything he has experienced, Tommy has been assessed with people, dogs and cats and has been wonderful – he is particularly lovely with cats.
He’s a remarkably quiet little chap too. He doesn’t even join in when other dogs are barking at him!
Tommy loves being outside and particularly enjoys lying in the garden and sunbathing, so a home with its own secure garden is essential.
Since arriving in foster he has been using the garden for toileting. He loves his wet food and chicken, although he can find dry food a little more difficult.
He’s still learning to navigate life on three legs and needs to continue building his strength and muscle, so his new family will need to be understanding while he adjusts.
Because Tommy would benefit from a peaceful environment where he can settle without being overwhelmed, we feel a home without small or noisy children would suit him best.
Tommy isn’t looking for someone who wants a perfect, ready-made dog.
He’s looking for someone who sees this slightly shy, three-legged little gentleman and thinks:
“Come on then, Tommy. You’ve had the hard bit. Let me show you what the good bit feels like.” ❤️
