🔄 Update
Doris is sadly back.
She was adopted in February, but now family think she is not the right match for a 70+ couple. This is no fault of Doris. She is exactly who she is meant to be — a young, playful, active dog full of life and joy.
She is affectionate, trainable, responsive and loving, but she has energy, curiosity and a need for activity that simply does not fit a quieter lifestyle. Doris needs more than elderly people can provide — more walks, more engagement, more life.
🐾 Meet Doris
🐶 Doris is around 1.5 years old, a medium-sized girl (probably Labrador cross) with a loving heart and a playful, youthful spirit. She is affectionate, clever and eager to be part of everything her people do.
✨ Highlights ✨
• SIZE: Medium to ward upper-medium
• SPAYED/NEUTERED: Yes
• CHARACTER: Affectionate • Playful • Intelligent • Energetic • Trainable
• DOGS: Friendly, playful
• CATS: Not suitable (prey drive)
• CHILDREN: Good with children 8+
💔 Background / Surrender Story
Doris was previously rescued after being at risk of euthanasia when her needs were misunderstood. She blossomed quickly once given care, guidance and attention.
She was then adopted, but despite her good nature and progress, the home was not the right match for her age and energy level. The family have made a difficult but responsible decision to return her so she can find a home better suited to her needs.
🐕 More About Doris
This is what her family say:
“Will play with ball for ages. It’s one way of wearing her out. Played ball with our 6 year old grandson without any issues. Attaches to women very quickly. Pulled on lead but is much improved. Responds to stand, wait and come at the kerb. Will sit and wait for food. Will wait at door until invited out and will wait until ready to start walk. “
Doris is a joyful, affectionate and very engaging young dog. She forms bonds quickly, especially with women, and loves being part of family life.
At home she is clean, well-behaved and balanced. She understands boundaries and shows good impulse control — she can wait for food, wait at doors, and respond to cues like sit, wait and come. She is eager to learn and enjoys training.
She enjoys being outdoors and would benefit from being able to run safely on a long training lead (before strong bond and recall built) to burn off energy and enjoy freedom.
Doris can travel in the car for short distances and is comfortable being included in everyday activities.
🏡 Ideal Home
Doris would thrive in an active home that enjoys walks, play and engagement. She would suit people who like training, adventures and including their dog in daily life. A home with older children (8+) would suit her well, as she enjoys play and interaction.
She would benefit from a home where someone is around much of the time and can give her both physical exercise and mental stimulation.
❤️ Doris is not “too much” — she is simply young, full of life and ready to share it. In the right home, she will be an incredibly fun, loving and devoted companion.
🩺 Health Information
Doris is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. No known medical conditions.
