A little about me in my own words (please
remember that humans are not defined by
their pasts alone- neither are we).
Because the shelter is full I’m on a chain.
Leesa helps dogs like me along with her
U.K. team. Her welfare is dedicated to
finding homes for dogs like myself who are
waiting desperately to discover the
beaches & woods alongside a kind owner. I
just wanted to play with the other dogs
when I arrived at the pound but some are
too small & cautious of my muppet like
ways. So the resident vet put me on a
chain just when I thought I’d seen the last
of one. I desperately want to interact with
my counterparts & didn’t know I was
causing any disruption. Quite pathetically I
know, but nonetheless, I actually felt this
enclosure was my first small burst of
‘freedom’ as prior to my owner dying, they
confined me to a metal tether. It’s not
unusual in Europe as even a tiny pincher
can be chained and we aren’t guarding
anything - we don’t know how to- it’s just
the cultural way in some places in the
world. Animal lovers understand it’s
abhorrent. The vet calls me a ‘baby’ & I
quote:-
“I guess he's more attached to other
animals because he's been on a leash and
chain his whole life and hasn't had any
contact with them, baby.” so you see it’s
because I wasn’t given the access I so
craved with my own kind that I’m so super
ecstatic to be around them now. I’m
everything a dog lover wants offering
bundles of affection to all I meet & gentle
moments of mutual cuddles when I place
my head into your body. I’m also desperate
as I’m on a chain. I hate it naturally & leesa
told me that the videos of me wagging my
tail whilst tethered are heart breaking to
observe. She explains that it’s my resolve
and ability to be happy at such small
morsels of love in the dark that is so very
poignant & humbling. Apparently this says
a lot of wonderful things about who I am &
my enduring & pure spirit. I wouldn’t hurt a
fly you see. Please don’t misjudge my
enthusiasm as this is a result of not having
attention on tap & my confinement to this
awful heavy restraint.
As a middle aged boy I want to sleep, enjoy
peaceful & quiet days with some
adventure’s thrown in- how can I rest when
there is a rattle of a chain when I try to
shift position and tangled round me? I’m
just a casualty of man’s distorted &
warped ways instead of what I always
should have known. As I’m so loyal &
sweet I miss my master as I was devoted to
them & I don’t understand why I’m here. I
just bounce back all the time and I don’t let
any of it get me down. Keep the faith as
they say but there is no one answering
back right now. Are you out there?

home. You’ll love me if you choose me
because I’m just a great all rounder - best
of all worlds- not too small and not too big
- a nice medium- not too young not too
old- I am a bonding companion & can also
be left alone- I’ll be ok with moderate
walks but if you decide to take me camping
or further afield count me in! I won’t mind a
chaotic or quiet home with or without
other dogs as long as I have time with
other animals as I love that. I’m very close
to nacho in the enclosure and she & I sleep
together in the kennel sometimes. It’s the
first proper comfort I’ve known. Now I’m
hooked :) I’m a real family, couple or single
person pet- so incredibly adaptable that
you would never look back. Neither will I if
you adopt me. Please be my special
person/s
