Description
Sasha is a 6-Year-old Medium/large Female dog weighing 38Kg who is thought to be a Malinois-cross. She is neutered, microchipped and in good health. She is not up to date with her vaccinations.
Sasha was originally rescued in Curtea de Arges, Romania in February 2024. In Romania she was quite adventurous and loved to play in water. After sadly being let down by three potential adopters she secured a home and came over to the UK on the Happy Bus in February 2025.
Sadly, after just 3 months she was surrendered due to her owner suffering a family trauma and not being able to support Sasha’s wellbeing and exercise needs. She said the following:
Sasha accepts a collar, harness and lead and while she’s excited at first she soon settles and walks nicely. She’s great on walks and not reactive. Sasha is toilet trained and has not yet travelled in a car. Sasha is not crate trained. She has never been destructive, and settles well at night time sleeping through. She has been left alone with the other dogs with no issues. Sasha likes to please her human and likes exercise / mental stimulation through play and training. She will play all day with the farm dogs but also is happy to sleep next to me while I’m gardening. She sits a distance from the table while we eat and calmly waits for her food to be put down. Ball games are a favourite and she will collect things that smell of her main carer.
Sasha moved to a new Foster home in August 2025 however after a week they have made the decision to surrender her due to her being anxious around the younger children in the home causing reactivity and for her to bark and growl, she did also lunge initially however this has now stopped. She has now settled with the children in the home and has been okay with them but is still very anxious. It is felt she would prefer a home with no children.
Sasha moved to a new foster home in October 25.
Sasha accepts a collar, harness and lead. She walks amazing on the lead and only occasionally pulls. She has been good with cars and people on her walks and is mostly good with dogs, she can react to pther dogs that react to her but only as a response she never initiates that. She is also muzzle trained.
Sasha previously struggled with children of 8 but was okay with the older 14 year old. She will therefore need a home with children 14+ with sensible introductions.
Sasha was good with dogs in Romania and previously lived with other dogs who she was also good with and they played together well. She can therefore share her home with dogs following sensible introductions. She can be jealous of her bonded human so this would need training and monitoring.
Sasha met cats in Romania and was good with them however since arriving in the UK she has shown a strong prey drive and attacked her first owner’s cat which unfortunately resulted in her passing away. She therefore cannot be placed in a home with cats or small furries. She has also shown a prey drive around larger animals like sheep and cows.
Sasha is toilet trained and crate trained. She has never been destructive and can be left alone for up to 5 hours with no issues, she has been seen on the doggie camera sleeping and playing with her toys. She has a dog walker who visits to break up her alone time. She sleeps well overnight in her crate with a blanket over. She copes well in the car too.
Sasha's foster says "Took a while to decompress,initially showed fear of everything..eg when out walking would not pass other dogs or people we would have to turn around or find another route.traffic passing she would luge out and try to attack moving cars.she would throw herself belly up on the floor when people in close proximity .all the above have settled down ,now she is happy to walk passed people and other dogs.she still does not like traffic but the lunging is almost stopped .she is no longer throwing herself on the floor and is happy to greet you when you enter her space.she is treated the same from my self and my partner we both feed her and at the moment due to my hip issue he has started walking her more than I but she still shows a pr3ference towards me.she likes routine and things that are familiar Eg walking routes. She is a quick learner and is willing to learn and please her owners.she is tolerant of our resident small dog but will growl if he approaches me she is chastised when she displays this behaviour and responds submissively but I would not trust her alone with him.she is very active,agile and fast and will need an active home with clear boundaries and lots of attention an only dog home would be heaven for her
