💔 A month ago, Marco arrived in foster after a difficult start to his UK journey.
Like many young rescue dogs, he had barely stepped off transport before being expected to adapt to an entirely new world. New people. New smells. New language. New rules. New life.
For a sensitive young dog, it was simply too much, too quickly. And he was returned back to rescue and went to our fantastic foster. And what a difference a month can make with someone, who reads the dogs.
🐾 Meet Marco
Marco is around 11 months old, perfect size (on pictures might look bigger) : a lower-medium/medium (to the knee) boy, with a loving heart, playful nature and a wonderful ability to form deep connections with those he trusts.

💔 Rescue Story
Marco was found as a tiny newborn puppy together with his mum and siblings abandoned on the shore of a lake.
Tiny helpless puppies left without shelter, safety or any chance of survival.
Thankfully, they were found in time and brought to safety, where Marco grew into the lovely young dog he is today.
🐾 More About Marco
Marco's foster has now lived with him for a month and knows him better than anyone.
She says:
"Marco arrived a month ago to me, he bonded extremely quickly and blossomed overnight, enjoying other dog company, toys, walks and cuddles."
And honestly, that describes Marco perfectly. He is a dog who throws himself wholeheartedly into life. He loves wholeheartedly. He trusts wholeheartedly. He gives wholeheartedly. Everything about Marco is genuine, open and full of heart.
He can wary of men at first, but as soon as trust built, he forms incredibly strong bonds with his people and absolutely adores affection and companionship. Once he chooses you, you will never doubt how much you mean to him.
At the same time, he gains enormous confidence from other dogs and truly benefits from having a playful, balanced female companion by his side.
His foster says:
"He is a dog that is extremely attached to his human whilst also benefits from a more mature playful dog companion."
Marco loves toys, enjoys his walks, adores cuddles and has all the fun, slightly clumsy charm of a young dog still discovering the world.
He is active and adventurous without being high-energy or overwhelming. Happy to join in family life, happy to explore, happy to play and equally happy to settle beside you afterwards.
Like many young rescue dogs, Marco is still learning that unfamiliar people and situations are safe.
His foster explains:
"He is still a young maturing male, so guiding him is vital, especially in his interactions with new dogs and unfamiliar people, as he is still learning that people are safe and trustworthy."
The wonderful thing about Marco is that he genuinely wants to learn. He is responsive, emotionally open and very easy to guide when given clear boundaries and positive direction.
"He has shown himself to be a soft-hearted, responsive, sweet-natured beautiful boy that will bring wonderful companionship to human and dog."
Marco is also wonderfully expressive. You never have to guess how he feels.
His foster says:
"He is clearly an expressive dog, of both his joys and fears, so one is able to quickly perceive how he is feeling and learn how to effectively guide him forward."
🏡 Ideal Home
Marco would thrive in an active but calm home with people who enjoy including their dog in everyday life.
A secure garden and another friendly, confident, playful female dog are essential for him. If you are looking for two dogs, please consider his sister Yara.
He would love people who enjoy walks, adventures, training and companionship, while understanding that confidence continues to grow through experience, guidance and trust.
Most importantly, he needs a family who appreciates what a special young dog he is and is willing to continue helping him mature into the incredible adult dog he is becoming.
