Description

Here's a version that keeps virtually all the important information while bringing it down enough to fit Pets4Homes' 5,000-character limit. ❤️ Sweetheart Bess is looking for her forever home ❤️ Name: Bess Breed: GSD x Dalmatian Age: 8 years (born ****************** Day ******************) Sex: Female Size: Medium/Large Colour: Black with white chest, paws & spots 🥰 Spayed: Yes Microchipped: Yes Vaccinations: Lapsed (will need restarting) Health: No known issues PLEASE READ - THIS IS NOW DESPERATE. My children are now being affected by the situation (through no fault of Bess). I have around a month to find her the right home. I honestly fear that if I can't, euthanasia may become the only option. The thought destroys me, but I don't know what else to do. Bess is an incredibly loving, energetic girl who absolutely doesn't act her age. She adores people, loves cuddles and affection, and wants to be involved in everything. She would make an amazing companion and walking buddy. She has lived happily with children from age 2+ (my daughter was 2 when Bess joined us). She loves children and will happily shower them with kisses! As with any dog, children should be respectful and not grab at her. She cannot live with cats or small animals. She gets on well with my calm male dog but not my female, so she'd ideally be an only dog or possibly live with a calm male. A rescue assessed Bess and described her as friendly, affectionate and a delight to meet. She behaves much younger than 8 and needs an active, experienced home. She can be reactive towards other dogs on walks, but with regular walking her lead pulling, impulse control and reactivity have improved massively. She is anxious at times and looks to her owner for reassurance, but she is eager to bond and will thrive with patience and consistency. 💔 Bess's story I bought Bess as a puppy for my dad after he suffered an incredibly difficult year, losing my mum, two Rottweilers, two grandchildren (pregnancies) and two of my cats they adored. She became his world. Dad unexpectedly passed away in December 2023, leaving Bess (and Bella, who sadly had to be put to sleep due to cancer). I promised him I would always do right by her. ⚠️ Why she needs a home Bess has been looking for over 2 years. Because she cannot live with my female dog, they have to be permanently separated. Bess also becomes anxious in the kitchen, meaning my own dog is shut away instead. My five cats have been confined upstairs for over two years. This isn't fair on any of them. I also have spinal problems and cannot physically give Bess the exercise she deserves. A friend walks her a few times a week, but it isn't enough. Financially, things have also become extremely difficult after years of vet bills and funding wildlife rehabilitation alongside caring for three dogs. 🚐 Previous home About a year ago Bess went to what I believed was her perfect home, travelling in a van. She loved the adventures but became so distressed by travelling that she began self-mutilating. Because of this she is now wary of car journeys, although she copes with short trips and could improve with positive training. ⚠️ Meet & greets People have only met Bess after an hour-long journey, arriving stressed into a completely new environment. Understandably, her lead pulling and anxiety returned, putting people off. This isn't the real Bess. Even then she has always been incredibly friendly and affectionate with people. She absolutely loves everyone she meets. She simply needs time to settle before showing her true personality. 🏡 Ideal home • Active, experienced owner • Secure garden • No cats or small animals • Ideally the only dog (or calm male) • Someone committed to continuing her training and exercise • Patient, understanding and consistent ❤️ Please read This is breaking my heart. I love Bess like family, but keeping her here is no longer fair on her or my other animals. A rescue has been trying to help, but after two years it still hasn't happened. Please only enquire if you're genuinely interested. Being ignored after people express interest is devastating. I will not let her go to just anyone. I would like adopters to meet her more than once, and I'd like a simple agreement that if she ever can't be kept, she comes back to me. Her next home must be her last. Bess is loyal, loving, funny and full of personality. In the right home she'll make an incredible best friend. 📍 Newark, Nottinghamshire 🚗 I am happy to drive Bess anywhere in the UK for the right forever home. ❤️ I have to put a price for the advert.
