Bess is back up for rehoming due to NO fault of her own. She went to a new home for a few days & unfortunately the little boy was allergic, so she came home. Her next option then let her down, & unfortunately so did the next one! She's gone through so much. Her next home I need to make sure nothing can go wrong!
So NO dogs (or other pets), to prevent anything going wrong & needing to come home again. Preferably someone who has had dogs before, so there are no known allergies.

My children are now being affected by the situation (through no fault of Bess). I have around 1 month to find her the right home. I honestly fear that if I can't, euthanasia may become the only option. The thought destroys me, but I don't know what else to do.
Bess has been looking for 2+ yrs. She was let down badly 2 yrs ago, then went to another home (the van home detailed below) & had to come back. Her next option then let her down, & unfortunately so did the next one. She's been through so much. This is NOT acceptable for Bess. She just needs to settle.
IMPORTANT: The recent return due to the little boy's allergy is NOT included in her "let downs". This was an unexpected allergy & nobody could have known.

Incredibly loving, energetic girl who absolutely doesn't act her age. Adores people, cuddles & affection, & wants to be involved in everything. Amazing companion/walking buddy.
Has lived happily with children age 2+ (my daughter was 2 when Bess joined us). Loves children & will happily shower them with kisses! As with any dog, children should be respectful & not grab at her.
Cannot live with cats or small animals. Gets on well with my calm male dog but not my female, so she'd ideally be an only dog or possibly live with a calm male. HOWEVER, due to everything she's been through, I am now looking for NO dogs/other pets.
A rescue assessed Bess & described her as friendly, affectionate & a delight to meet. She behaves much younger than 8 & needs an active, experienced home. Can be reactive towards other dogs on walks, but regular walking has massively improved lead pulling, impulse control & reactivity. Anxious at times & looks to owner for reassurance, but eager to bond & will thrive with patience & consistency.
💔 BESS'S STORY
I bought Bess as a puppy for my dad after an incredibly difficult year, losing my mum, 2 Rottweilers, 2 grandchildren (pregnancies) & 2 cats they adored. She became his world.
Dad unexpectedly passed away Dec 2023, leaving Bess (and Bella, sadly PTS due to cancer in October last year). I promised him I would always do right by her.
⚠️ WHY SHE NEEDS A HOME
Bess has been looking for 2+ yrs. Because she cannot live with my female dog, they have to be permanently separated. Bess also becomes anxious in the kitchen, meaning my own dog is shut away instead. My 5 cats have been confined upstairs for 2+ yrs. This isn't fair on any of them.
I have spinal problems & cannot physically give Bess the exercise she deserves. A friend walks her a few times a week, but it isn't enough.
Financially, things are extremely difficult after years of vet bills & funding wildlife rehabilitation alongside caring for 3 dogs.
🚐 PREVIOUS HOME — THE VAN HOME FROM AROUND 2 YRS AGO
About 2 yrs ago Bess went to what I believed was her perfect home, travelling in a van. She loved the adventures but became so distressed by travelling that she began self-mutilating. Because of this she is now wary of car journeys, although copes with short trips & could improve with positive training.
⚠️ MEET & GREETS
People have only met Bess after a 1-hour journey, arriving stressed in a completely new environment. Understandably her lead pulling & anxiety returned, putting people off.
This isn't the real Bess.
Even then she has always been incredibly friendly & affectionate with people. She absolutely loves everyone she meets. She simply needs time to settle before showing her true personality.

• Someone committed to continuing training & exercise
• Patient, understanding & consistent
• Preferably someone who has owned dogs before, so no known allergy issues

This is breaking my heart. I love Bess like family, she is my little sister!! but keeping her here is no longer fair on her, us or my other animals.
A rescue has been trying to help, but after 2 yrs it still hasn't happened.
Please only enquire if genuinely interested. Being ignored after people express interest is devastating.
I will NOT let her go to just anyone. I would like adopters to meet her more than once & I'd like a basic contract/agreement confirming she will receive all the love & care she deserves, that I receive updates, & that if she can't be kept for ANY reason, she comes back to me & is NOT given away, sold, handed to rescue or anyone else etc.
Ideally I would like to bring Bess to your home to meet you (to ensure you are who you say you are — just can't be too careful nowadays) & see where she'd live.
Her next home MUST be her last.
Bess is loyal, loving, funny & full of personality. In the right home she'll make an incredible best friend.
