Description

We recently adopted Dobby 3 weeks ago but it’s sadly become clear we are not the right home for her so we are looking for a home which is. She was originally sold as a cocker spaniel, but clearly a mix of other things we would guess maybe terrier of some sort, possibly schnauzer. She has been perfect at home but unfortunately she is not enjoying going to my mums while we are at work. She is a dog walker which means the house is full of new dogs each day, and a lot of coming and goings of dogs and people. Unfortunately it seems Dobby hadn’t been socialised a lot with other dogs and being in a house with lots of unfamiliar ones makes her uncomfortable and stressed. The idea of waiting her turn for treats, and having to share the attention is one that’s unfamiliar with her. We’ve given it 3 weeks but still don’t seem to enjoy the company of the other dogs and drags me out of the house each day so don’t think it’s fair to keep sending her there each day and unfortunately we don’t have any other option. She’s a lovely girl and we are completely confident for the right home situation she’ll be perfect. The good parts - In general placid towards other dogs, especially on walks, wants to go up for a sniff then move on. - Been great around kids. My mum’s is also full of grand kids and has been perfect around them no aggression or issues. - House trained. Had no accidents in the house at all. - Seems very trainable. Already learnt she doesn’t beg at the table, doesn’t sleep on the bed, waiting for dinner. Never been off the lead with previous owner, first parts of training through games has been encouraging. - Perfect home nature, cuddly on the sofa and extremely affectionate but not needy Parts for training - Can be pully on the lead. Already found that attached to the front of harness helps this a lot, and shorter lead over long lead. Pulls most when she sees a bird or cat as you’d expect. Doesn’t help she’s full of energy as she hasn’t been recalled trained. - Has minimal vet history. Have our first consultation booked for 27/04 so will see how that goes. Has not been spayed, and had no litters as far as we are aware. - Barking when left is on and off. After a long walk you can leave her longer for example. We are trying to increase these slowly within reason but the previous owner said there was no barking and they lived in a flat so this could be down to the moving and mix up. But we have a camera and check it frequently when left and the barking is start/stop
