Description
Twiggy is an older dog that found himself in Gabis Romanian shelter in September 25 he was offered a foster placement and moved there in November 25. He was a quiet friendly boy whilst in Romania. He is microchipped, vaccinated and neutered with no known health issues but being older he is on the slow side.
Behaviour & Temperament – Twiggy
Twiggy is a calm, well-mannered dog who settles easily into the home environment but he is not suitable for a home with young children. Twiggy has shown discomfort around toddlers and has previously growled and barked at a 2-year-old child. For this reason, a child-free home or one with teenagers aged 16+ is recommended.
He walks beautifully on the lead and becomes happily excited when he sees it, knowing it’s time for a walk. Twiggy remains calm, does not pull, and is generally relaxed when out and about. He is fine around other adults and external stimuli, though he may pull slightly if he sees another dog.
Twiggy enjoys the company of other dogs and can live with another dog if introductions are done slowly. He does not require a resident dog but would benefit from canine companionship. He has no history of aggression toward other dogs and has shown no resource or food guarding behaviours.
He met cats in Romania and done well with them, he can live with cats.
He is fully toilet trained and crate trained, sleeping overnight in his crate with the door left open. Twiggy is not destructive and copes well when left alone for short periods (1–2 hours), typically settling down to sleep, this could be increased in an adoption home.
Twiggy travels well in the car and is comfortable wearing a collar and walking on a lead.
Overall, Twiggy would thrive in a calm, adult home with consistent routines and understanding owners who can continue to support his comfort around the environment.
Twiggy foster says 'Twiggy is an older chap and he is so gentle and loving and loves human interaction, he will definitely make someone a great companion, he loves his sleep and enjoys his walks twice a day and he likes a wonder round and his favourite time is treat time (gravy bones his favourite). He wouldn’t take up much room in someones home but would definitely take up all the room in your heart because he is a sweetheart'.
