Description

It is with a heavy heart we are looking for a new home for our beloved dog, Rome, due to a change in our circumstances. this decision has been incredibly difficult and due to no fault of his own. We are in no rush to rehome him and will be taking our time to make sure we find a home in which he can thrive. He is a loving and loyal dog with a fantastic personality and has been a much loved member of our family. He is well behaved, enjoys being around his people and knows a variety of tricks. he is intelligent and eager to please. he has so much to offer with the right owner. As a large, strong dog, he is best suited to an experienced and confident owner who can provide consistent boundaries, plenty of attention, regular exercise and longer walks. he would benefit from a home where he continues to receive the time and stimulation he enjoys. We are looking for a home where he is the only pet. he does not get along well with other dogs and has been known to chase the cats, so a pet free household would be the most suitable for him. although he currently lives with our toddler and has been good with her, we would prefer an adult only home. this is simply because of his size, strength and specific needs. we feel he would be best placed in a calmer environment where the focus can be entirely on him. we also want to be completely honest about his behaviour with food. he has shown signs of food guarding and can become protective of food while eating. if someone attempts to take his food bowl away or remove food from him, he may growl and has on occasion snapped. because of this he needs an owner who understands this behaviour and is able to manage it appropriately. he truly is a wonderful dog with so much love to give, and our priority is finding a home that can provide the care, understanding and the commitment he deserves. we will only consider homes that we feel are right for him as his welfare is our main concern. thank you for reading
