Description

🐾 Meet Roo Roo is a big-hearted, affectionate and wonderfully goofy girl who has been waiting far too long for her moment. Affectionately named after a kangaroo (for obvious reasons!), Roo has a playful, bouncy spirit and a personality full of warmth, humour, and love. She is believed to be a Raven Shepherd–type dog from the Carpathian Mountains in Romania, which gives her that beautiful combination of intelligence, sensitivity, and independence. She is the kind of dog who will make you laugh daily — whether it’s her expressive face, her silly moments, or her complete commitment to cuddles. But behind that joyful personality is a dog who has spent over three years in kennels, patiently waiting for someone to see her. 💛 Her Story Roo hasn’t had the easiest start. She was abandoned by her first family as a young dog and later found herself in a situation that wasn’t right for her, before coming into our care in August 2022. Since then, we’ve done everything we can for her — but kennel life is not what Roo wants or deserves. She has so much love to give, and we are now desperately hoping the right person finds her. 🧠 Personality & Connection Roo is a deeply affectionate, sensitive and people-oriented dog. She absolutely loves cuddles and closeness She wants to be near her person — ideally as a large lap dog 😄 She is goofy, playful, and full of character She is incredibly food motivated and intelligent, and enjoys training She also has a softer, more sensitive side — she feels things deeply and responds best to calm, reassuring guidance. We recently had the chance to see Roo in a home environment during a short stay, and she was described as a beautiful house guest — calm, affectionate, and a joy to have around. She loved her walks, her cosy time on the sofa, and simply being part of a home. Coming back into kennels after that was understandably hard for her — and it reminded us just how ready she is for her own family. 🌿 Her Ideal Life Roo doesn’t need endless activity — she needs the right kind of life. Her perfect home would be: 🏡 Calm, stable, and structured 🌿 In a semi-rural or quiet area with access to green space 🛋️ A home where she can enjoy both walks and cosy downtime 🚗 A family who can take her out and about (she travels very well) She loves being outdoors — watching the world, exploring, and taking everything in — but she is equally happy being close to her people at home. 🐕 Other Animals To keep things simple and set Roo up for success: 🚫 No other animals in the home 🚫 No children Roo needs a clear, predictable environment where she can relax and continue progressing. That said, Roo does show that she is capable of forming positive relationships with the right dogs. Her current canine bestie in kennels is Dave the Labradoodle, whom she absolutely adores, and they enjoy spending time together. Roo also enjoys joining pack walks when we have the time, which shows that with the right setup, guidance, and familiar dogs, she can feel comfortable and engaged. This reflects her sensitivity and selectivity, rather than a dislike of other dogs — she simply needs the right conditions to feel safe and confident. 👤 The Right Owner Roo is looking for someone experienced, calm, and committed — someone who sees her potential and is willing to continue helping her grow. She can show reactivity, which comes from anxiety and sensitivity, not aggression We have made really positive progress with her using the right approach We now feel we understand what she needs — and we will fully support her adopter Her future family will need to: ✔️ Be confident handling a large dog ✔️ Be willing to continue her training with our support ✔️ Be patient, consistent, and kind This is not about perfection — it’s about commitment and understanding. 🐾 A Few More Details 🐕 Large dog 🚗 Travels very well 🧠 Intelligent and food motivated 🧸 Loves toys (especially her beloved panda 🐼) 🦴 On medication for some hip discomfort (we are happy to discuss support for this with the right home) 🐾 Not currently suitable for off-lead due to prey drive 💫 Why Roo? Roo is one of those dogs who may be overlooked at first glance — a big black dog with a bit of complexity. But for the right person… she is everything. She is the kind of dog who: Will make you laugh Will curl up next to you like she’s always belonged there Will form a bond that feels incredibly special Once she finds her person, we truly believe they will wonder how they ever lived without her. ✨ We know Roo is not for everyone. But we also know that her person is out there. If you are experienced, kind, and ready to give a dog like Roo the life she has been waiting for, we will support you every step of the way. If you think you could offer Roo the safe, loving and understanding home she deserves, please fill in an enquiry form — we would love to hear from you ❤️
