Meet Bonnie – A Beautiful Young Doberman Cross Whose World Revolves Around Two Things… Her Favourite Orange Ball and Her Favourite Humans. 🧡🎾
Bonnie is a stunning 2-year-old Doberman cross weighing around 26kg, with a heart every bit as big as her personality. She is everything people love about the breed - intelligent, affectionate, loyal and full of enthusiasm for life.
Whether she’s bringing you her ball for the hundredth game of fetch, following you from room to room, or curling up beside you on the sofa after a busy day, Bonnie simply wants to be involved in whatever you’re doing.
If you’re looking for a dog who will become your devoted best friend, Bonnie could be exactly who you’ve been waiting for.
What Bonnie Loves…
🐾 Playing fetch is Bonnie’s absolute favourite pastime. She’ll happily play for as long as you’ll throw the ball, always bringing it straight back and placing it in your hand ready for another go. She’ll even entertain herself in the garden if nobody else is available!
🐾 Bonnie has one very important request… if you’re buying tennis balls, please make sure they’re orange! They’re the only ones she’ll play with! 🍊🎾
🐾 She absolutely loves spending time outdoors, so a secure medium to large garden is essential where she can run, play and burn off some of her energy.
🐾 Despite all her enthusiasm during the day, Bonnie has a wonderful “off switch”. Around 7pm every evening she transforms into the ultimate cuddle companion, happily snoozing beside her favourite person for the rest of the night.
Living with Bonnie
Bonnie doesn’t just want to live with her family - she wants to be part of everything they do. She’ll happily follow you from room to room, supervise the gardening, watch you cook dinner and then snuggle beside you in the evening. Being close to her people is where she’s happiest.
She currently lives happily with an older, confident dog and enjoys canine company. She could live with another friendly, confident dog who enjoys playing, although we would also consider the right home where she would receive plenty of companionship, exercise and interaction.
Bonnie is completely housetrained, travels beautifully in the car and can be left alone while her foster carer is at work without showing any signs of separation anxiety. She is clean in the home, doesn’t chew household items and is generally very well behaved indoors. Just don’t leave food unattended… Bonnie has an excellent nose and will certainly help you find it!
She has no guarding issues whatsoever around food, toys or balls and is perfectly happy for people to take things from her. She has shown no aggression at all in foster - not even a growl - and is an incredibly friendly girl who simply adores people.
Bonnie already knows several basic commands and is highly intelligent and eager to learn. She is also very food motivated, making her a pleasure to train.
What Bonnie is Still Learning
Like many young dogs, Bonnie is still learning about the world.
She can become over-excited when greeting visitors and may jump up, so we feel she would be best suited to a home with children aged 14+, simply because she doesn’t always realise her own size and strength. In her head she’s still the size of a little Yorkie!
She generally walks nicely on the lead but can become anxious when people approach her and may bark when she sees other dogs whilst out walking. Her foster family have made excellent progress using positive reinforcement and food rewards, and Bonnie is responding really well. We believe that with continued patient guidance and confidence-building she will continue to improve.
Her recall is still developing, so she will need to continue exercising on a long line until it is fully reliable.
Bonnie’s Ideal Home
✔️ Active home able to provide at least an hour of exercise each day
✔️ Secure medium to large garden
✔️ Children aged 14+
✔️ Could live with another friendly, confident dog
✔️ No cats (not cat tested)
✔️ Owners willing to continue her positive training and confidence building
Bonnie is fully vet checked, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated and spayed, so she is all ready to begin the next chapter of her life.
She has come such a long way since arriving in foster and has blossomed into a wonderfully affectionate, funny and loyal companion. She gives her whole heart to the people she loves and will reward the right family with endless affection, laughter and companionship for many years to come.
