Description
This lovely, mischievous girl is an escape artist. She needs a safe home with someone who knows what they are doing.
When she came to me 12 years ago she was obese. Being obese if you are a tortoise means that you have folds of fatty skin bulging out of the shell wherever it can. It took two years of not allowing her to hibernate and feeding her safe greens,
She ran around after her very large friend, Frank the Sulcata tortoise. They had a stroll/run around the garden come rain, snow and sunshine.
When my circumstances changed and Frank grew, he went to live somewhere else as he was destroying the garden.
This little girl has spent the 2 years since he left trying to find him. My hedge has wire mesh to prevent escape but she has still managed it. Facebook around the village lit up with her visits to nearby gardens and roads.
She will not appreciate being in a vivarium. She loves a good wash and oil in the summer,
Her favourite foods are nectarines and peaches which need to be given sparingly. She also loves dandelions and spinach. She can climb to twice her length and force a metal dog enclosure fence far enough to prise herself out on her side. Tortoise Table is a fantastic website if you need any advice.
