Description
Hi, my name is Curtiss. I take in reptiles that need rehoming quickly, or animals that would benefit from a more suitable setup, environment and overall level of care. Once they have been properly set up with new equipment and supplies, I then look to find them the right home. There is never a rush, as securing the right home is more important to me than recovering costs.
This is Draco.
Draco came from a home where he was not being cared for properly. From the pictures I was shown, I felt I had to step in and take him on.
His enclosure had a blown heat mat, a very old UV light, a large number of mealworms living inside, and a heavy build up of faeces.
Since arriving, Draco has been given a brand new enclosure in the correct size, 86.25 cm x 37.5 cm x 42.1 cm.
He has also been provided with a new Arcadia UV light and a DHP heating system to create a proper temperature gradient, including a new Microclimate dimming thermostat.
The cost of purchasing Draco and setting him up properly has been more than I am asking. This included £120 to purchase him and his old enclosure, £95 for the new vivarium, £55 for the UV unit, £40 for the holder and bulb, £45 for the dimmer, and around £100 for decor and hides.
He can be handled, but he will need a patient owner, someone willing to give him the time, gentleness and consistency he needs.
He is honestly a beautiful soul who enjoys laying out under his heat and is often at the glass to let you know when he is hungry.
Because he was previously neglected, he can struggle a little with shedding. During shed cycles he will need some extra support, including being placed in shallow lukewarm water once a day to help him through it.
There is no rush for me to move Draco on. Finding the right home for him is my main priority.
