🦔 1-Year-Old African Pygmy Hedgehog Looking for a Loving Home 🦔 (Hoggy)
I’m sadly looking to rehome my 1-year-old African pygmy hedgehog as I’ll be going to university and won’t be able to give him the time and care he deserves.
He is a lovely little hedgehog who enjoys burrowing under blankets and snuggling underneath them. This is a very difficult decision, so I’m looking for someone who will give him a safe, warm, and loving forever home.
What’s included:
* His cage/enclosure
* His favourite blankets to snuggle under
* Heat lamp
* Any remaining food and accessories I have
About him:
* He can be shy when meeting new people, which is completely normal for hedgehogs. It may take a little while for him to get used to his new owner, so patience is important.
* To help him build trust and become comfortable with you, he should be handled every day (at least once a day if possible). Regular, gentle handling helps him become more confident and friendly.
* He is nocturnal, so he’s naturally most active in the evening and at night. However, with regular handling and a consistent routine, he can become more awake and happy to come out during the day too.
Care requirements:
* He currently eats high-quality dry cat food as his main diet and also enjoys suitable treats such as mealworms and other hedgehog-safe foods.
* African pygmy hedgehogs must be kept warm at all times. His enclosure should be kept at around 24–27°C, especially during colder months. The included heat lamp is essential, as if they get too cold they can try to hibernate, which is extremely dangerous and can be fatal.
* He should always have fresh water available and his enclosure should be cleaned regularly.
I only want him to go to someone who understands the commitment involved in caring for an African pygmy hedgehog or is willing to learn. His welfare is my top priority, so please only get in touch if you can provide him with the time, warmth, and care he deserves. Pygmy hedgehog live up to 3-8 years
