Description
Leopard (Spotted) Tortoises
I currently have hatchlings available; however, they will remain with me until they have safely doubled in weight and are well established before moving to new homes.
These tortoises require specific care to thrive. They need a constant heat source (24/7) along with a daylight T5 UVB bulb for approximately 8–12 hours daily to support healthy growth and shell development . Unlike some species, leopard tortoises do not hibernate and must be kept warm year-round .
At present, the hatchlings weigh approximately 30–50 grams and are feeding well. As adults, they grow into a large species, often reaching significant sizes and requiring substantial space and long-term planning for their accommodation .
As they mature, they will need access to a secure outdoor area with plenty of natural grass. Their diet is predominantly made up of grasses and weeds, forming the majority of their nutritional intake .
I have over 30 years of experience keeping leopard tortoises and am always happy to offer guidance and ongoing support to new owners. Please be aware that these animals can live for many decades, making them a genuine long-term commitment .
If you are interested in providing a suitable, lifelong home, I would be glad to discuss further and help you prepare for responsible ownership.
