Description
Uma our Shebull is an highly affectionate and doting family dog. She's the daughter of our 9 year old Bulldog, Kilo and has been with us since birth. Its absolutely breaking our hearts that we have to re-home her but changes in our work and life circumstance are making things impossible. We want whats best for her and can’t continue giving her the full attention she needs and deserves. Uma was one of a littler of 4, a happy accident that we only found out about two weeks before her arrival. Her and her mother love each other dearly and generally get on very well but her mother is now 9 and starting to slow down. Uma vying for attention is just too much and the house is no longer harmonious. We’ve been struggling on for the last year desperately trying to make it work but her energy is so different to her mothers, we cant walk them together. The amount of time spent doing this is no longer possible as I now have to work away frequently and have care commitments. While she’s got some of the bulldog doze, she’s still got some playful pup about her and Uma’s working temperament means she needs a lot of exercise and direction. We believe would be better suited to a space where she’s the only dog and can be in very tight relationship with her human(s). She trains very easily (highly treat lead!), and is so, so eager to please, but this has to be consistent and our lives are hectic which is counter to the on going guidance she’s looking for. Whilst there is a lot of nature around us we don’t have our own garden, which is something she’d also really benefit from as her sheepdog DNA is used to having a territory to look after. She’s got a few sheep dog habits, but now firmly understands children aren’t live stock and has always been really amazing with our four year old daughter. She doesn’t have much experience in public spaces or towns and needs help settling in environments she’s not used to as she’s predominantly been at home. That said she’s used to being in kennels and gets on really well with the other dogs and staff there. She's mainly with her mum when we are out but can do 2-3 hrs by her self - might needs a fuss when you get back and will use sulk eyes on you for all of a minute (she got this power from her mum). She’s now spade and has no health issue we are aware of. Her mother has 1/4 Old Tyme Bulldog in her which is something thats being done to try and save Bulldogs from in-breeding. This means she’s got a more healthy physique (longer legs, less squished face, better heart etc). She has some allergies in spring but Uma is not showing signs of this and as you can see from the photos took a lot of characteristics from the father who is Old English sheep dog. We now know her dad, who also has no known health issues. Her recall is pretty good, unless she’s found a bone, (then she’ll try skulk behind you with it) and she’s fairly good on the lead, though we have to refresh her training on this from time to time. We sometimes have to watch her around bikes as she thinks there is a potential game there, again this is an issue of training. She will beg but not take food and never resource guards. At heart she’s a really, really beautiful creature and in the right context will be the most amazing companion. She does need to be with people who have decent experience with dogs and can invest some time in training her so she can adapt into her new environment.
