It is with a very heavy heart that I am looking for a new home for my 19-week-old puppy. This is not a decision I have made lightly, but I feel that he would be better suited to a home with the experience, time and confidence to work with his behavioural needs. He is a Golden Retriever cross English Setter, fully vaccinated, and is a lovely, friendly dog who is good with children and very affectionate around people. He is a lovely, affectionate puppy in many ways and is still very young, but he has resource-guarding behaviour, particularly around things he considers valuable. He can become uncomfortable and defensive if approached while guarding something, so he needs an experienced owner who understands dog behaviour and is prepared to continue appropriate training and management. Because of this, I am looking for a responsible and experienced home, ideally someone who has previously dealt with resource guarding or who is willing to work with a qualified behaviourist. I would not recommend a home with young children, and I would want the new owner to understand his behaviour fully before making a decision. please note I'm not an original breeder.
