🦜 Exceptional Greenwing Macaw – 3 Years Old – Large Cage Included – Needs a Patient, Loving Home 🌿
It’s with genuine reluctance that I’m looking for a new home for my beautiful 3-year-old Greenwing Macaw, believed to be male (no DNA paperwork). He is in outstanding health, with excellent feather condition, bright eyes, and everything you’d expect from a well-looked-after bird. He is a truly impressive macaw – both in size and personality – and turns heads instantly.
I’ve only had him a short time, having taken him on with the intention of putting in the time to fully tame and bond with him. Sadly, due to other commitments, I just can’t give him the consistent time, patience and daily interaction he really needs – and he absolutely deserves that chance.
This is a bird with real potential. Once he settles and gets to know you, you can clearly see that he wants to trust. He will sit with you, enjoys your company, and absolutely loves interaction on his own terms. He talks, and really comes alive when you engage with him – he loves to sing, dance, and be part of what you’re doing. He enjoys being out of his cage and watching the world around him.
However, he has clearly had a less-than-perfect start in life, and because of that he can be nervous, and may act defensively if he feels unsure. This isn’t aggression for the sake of it – it’s fear-based, and you can genuinely tell he’s conflicted and doesn’t want to be that way. With calm handling, routine, and someone experienced who understands parrots, he settles quickly and shows a much softer, trusting side.
Give him a little time, move at his pace, and you will see him relax and begin to bond. He is not a lost cause at all – quite the opposite – he is a bird that just needs someone willing to invest that time, and in return you’ll have an incredibly rewarding companion.
He is eating very well, enjoying a varied diet of fruits, vegetables and quality seed, and is thriving physically.
He comes with a large, solid cage included in the sale, so everything is ready for him to move straight into his new home.
This macaw would be perfect for:
• Someone with parrot/macaw experience looking for a rewarding project
• A home where he will get daily interaction and patience
• Or potentially an aviary environment with other birds, where he could also flourish
I want to stress – this is not a distressed or neglected bird, just one that needs the right environment and time investment to truly shine.
💷 Sensibly priced to secure the right home quickly – value reflects both his quality and the need for a committed owner.
This is a very difficult decision, and I will prioritise the right home over anything else. If you understand parrots and are looking for a macaw you can build a genuine bond with, this boy will be incredibly rewarding.
