Description
Archie is a 9-year-old Medium Male. He is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. He is generally in good health, though a little overweight.
Archie happily lived in his adoptive home since February 2020, however sadly he has been surrendered because his owner has had to go into respite care. There weren’t any friends or family able to take Archie temporarily, so he was moved into kennels before moving to a foster home in October 25.
Archie is a gentle and affectionate dog who enjoys human company when he knows them. He can be reactive to visitors to the home and did bite a workman that startled him. He should be given a seperate safe space and calmly introduced to visitors.
Archie enjoys gentle walks and is easy on the lead. He likes to amble and sniff, doesn’t really pull, and has been calm around traffic and other everyday noises. He knows basic cues such as his name, “come,” and “sit.” He can react to some dogs but will listen to commands to carry on walking normally.
Archie spent time with other dogs in kennels and has been fine with them as well a dog in the foster home who he does really well with. He would do well with another calm dog with sensible introductions.
He has not lived with cats but showed no interest when walked past a cattery, so may be able to live with dog-savvy cats after careful introductions.
Archie hasn’t lived with children but based on his calm, older-gentleman temperament (a quieter home would suit him best) calm, older children may be appropriate following slow introductions.
In kennels Archie was calm and settled. In his foster home he has also been calm and is toilet trained, non destructive, okay being left for up to 6 hours during the day and sleeps well overnight. He travels well on the backseat of the car.
