Columbian Blacktail Hatching Eggs Meet Rusty, our handsome Rhode Island Red cockerel, and his six lovely Light Sussex ladies! Together they produce stunning Columbian Blacktail chicks — brilliant layers with calm, friendly temperaments. This cross creates auto-sexing chicks, meaning you can tell the boys from the girls at a day old — the red chicks are female and the yellow are male. The resulting hens are hardy, reliable egg layers and have that classic golden-brown plumage with a beautiful black tail. All hatching eggs are freshly collected from our smallholding near Stroud, Gloucestershire. We only send eggs that are under one week old (usually less) to give you the best possible chance of a successful hatch. The most recent fertility test (March 2026) showed a strong 90% success rate, and our flock is kept on Fancy Feeds Breeder Pellets with Aviform Breeder supplements to support fertility, shell strength and overall bird health. 📦 Postage & Collection: We post eggs Monday to Thursday using 24-hour tracked delivery in secure polystyrene boxes to protect them in transit. Collection is also welcome from GL6 7HJ. 💛 Our Promise: We guarantee a minimum 50% fertility rate on eggs collected in person, provided they are incubated using a reliable incubator and handled according to our care instructions. While we can’t guarantee fertility on posted eggs due to postal conditions, we always post fresh and pack carefully — and our Columbian Blacktails have consistently high hatch feedback from happy customers.
