Description
Nigel is a medium sized boy aged around 4 years He was taken into the care of Pawprints as a very young puppy who had been dumped on the streets of Ploiesti, Romania. Nigel was found in a cardboard box with his 3 brothers who have all travelled to their forever homes in the UK.
Nigel arrived in his Foster home in December 2025 and he is now ready to find his forever home!
Nigel is vaccinated, microchipped and neutered He has a docked tail but no known health issues
Nigel can be a little nervous when meeting new people He will initially bark when there are visitors to his Foster home but at the same time his tail will be wagging! He does not back away, he is just a little unsure, he has never growled or shown any aggression
Nigel currently lives with five other dogs and gets along well with them He does not show any food or resource guarding behaviour but he does appreciate his own space His Foster reports that he can grumble if he is bumped into while lying down!
It would be beneficial for Nigel to live alongside another dog(s) in his forever home to help with his confidence in certain areas but this is not a requirement
Nigel also lives with cats with no issues His Foster Mum reports he seems “wary and avoids them”, he could therefore live with cats and other small furries with slow, sensible introductions
Nigel did not meet children in Romania, nor has he met them while in the UK
We feel he would enjoy and be suitable as a family dog but recommend dog savvy children aged 14 years plus as he can be quite excitable and bouncy
Nigel is almost there with regards to toilet training He will indicate when he needs out to the garden during the day but does, on occasion, have an accident overnight He uses a puppy pad at the back door if this is the case He is not crate trained and has never been destructive in the home
He shows no sign of separation anxiety and has been left for periods of up to 4 hours with the other dogs in the home for company
This will need to be built up in his new home particularly if he was an only dog
He settles and sleeps well overnight with another dog for company but can bark at external stimuli such as car doors, people voices etc
Nigel accepts a harness, his Foster Mum reports he is happy to wear this but he is reluctant to accept a lead
At the moment he is not going for walks but there is a plan in place to help with this and signs of improvement
Further work will be required in his forever home and Pawprints are happy to support with this.
Nigel has not travelled in a car while he has been in the UK
Nigel’s Foster Mum has the following to say about him:
“He likes his dinner but was not used to dog treats when he came but has a few favourites now. He takes his treats very gently. He is lovely natured and is happy lying in his bed often with his front paws crossed. He likes getting his neck rubbed. He loves running in the garden and he will be fast once he gets going. I liken him to Tigger!!”
