Looking for the right home for our dog This is an incredibly difficult decision, but we are looking for a loving new home for our Border Collie × Poodle. He is an extremely loving and affectionate dog who always wants to be close to you—if he can sit on top of you, he will! He has been great with our three-year-old and enjoys playing with him. He can also be left at home for several hours without causing any problems. He is brilliant on walks and spends most of his time running around off the lead. He is extremely friendly when approaching other dogs and people. His recall is generally good, although he may need to be called a couple of times. He is very treat-motivated and will return, sit and wait for his treat. The main reason we are looking for a new home is his extremely high energy level. He needs a very active home that can give him plenty of exercise, attention and stimulation, which we are unfortunately unable to provide consistently. We also want to be completely honest about his resource guarding. There are no concerns during normal mealtimes or when he is eating his own food, and his bowl can be moved without an issue. However, if he takes something he should not have, he may hide under the sofa and growl if you try to retrieve it. We manage this by distracting him and exchanging the item for a treat. His new owner would need to understand this and be willing to work with him patiently. He has so much love to give, and this decision has not been made lightly. We will be very careful about finding him the right home, so please message me if you genuinely feel you could offer him the active, loving and permanent home he needs.
