AVAILABLE-lab’ retriever mix ‘Sandy’ lad the 3-4yr old gent who is both playful around other dogs & a calm hearth to your home
A little bit about his history because he is not defined by it anymore than we are by ours & animals bounce back like the phenomenal & loving souls that they are Sandy wasn’t in a lucky position when he was born in an environment that didn’t care. What should have been the ****************** of life was for him just existence, loneliness & desperation. Despite the indifference & neglect he remained upbeat & hopeful. He ended up in a government shelter because that’s where a lot of humans shift their responsibilities & because no one wanted to offer him anything else. In his cold concrete enclosure where there is nothing (yet they have so much to offer) he was one day ‘adopted’ - people turned up- and took him away. Then In a callous act of unforgivable cruelty they discarded him like a screwed up crisp packet and simply walked away. Sandy found himself homeless again & worse still was carted off to the same cell he’d ended up in the first time round. He must have wondered what he’d done wrong. Well we are here to tell him he’s wonderful though all the words in the world can’t save him unless it’s ’can I adopt him please?’. What we won’t tell Sandy and he wouldn’t understand anyway, is that he’s at risk (please ask to learn more) & the handsome boy needs a break and his special person/ s.

Sandy was described by the resident vet & shelter manager as ‘very good’ & ‘playful’ and that’s certainly correct. This handsome lab mix would make a joyful companion whether you live alone, in a couple or are a family with dog savvy older children - with or without resident pets - he’s your boy. He’d love doggy play dates if he’s an only dog. Sandy Is an all rounder and that instant pal that you’ve been hoping for. The lab in him makes him a passive addition though he also has his spirited ‘Al Pacino’ side. He’s nothing if he’s not entertaining. He is assertive enough not to share his food though I’d like to think most dogs wouldn’t want another face in their plate. I know food is on tap however that’s got nothing to do with not wanting to see a hand reach over in a restaurant to pinch it. Animals are entitled to feel the same. He was also described with the adjective ‘spoilt’ which I really liked because the fact he has the drive and presence of mind to display desires is lovely & poignant. Sandy is in touch with his inner diva. He’s been through rejection and a cycle of ongoing misery with flashes of betterment that were then taken away from him. It would have been better for sandy never to have had anything rather than to have had and lost. To a loyal canine any master however unkind is their familiar and they still suffer the absence of same. Yet sandy finding himself back where he started hasn’t let any of it change his faith in people. Through his obvious sadness & destitution he continues on with la spark and hope in his eyes. It will fade however unless he finds the company and warm bed that he should have always known. Nothing marks his nature more accurately than the heaps of affection he gives without question and his happiness on walks when he gets them despite his lot. The dashing fella is pleased with any morsel of attention & it’s that humble sense of gratitude that makes them not worthy of our love but actually above it. Please show sandy the stars and share your life with him.
