This arresting beauty ‘Miriam’ is available
for adoption. She arrived in the U.K.
towards the end of December 25’ for what
would have been her first ****************** ever
after 1.5yrs of never being owned. The
welfare was contacted on the 16th
December 25’ by her previous owner to
‘arrange’ a ‘return’.
She’s got so much to offer and it’s a
shame she didn’t have the time she
needed to flourish & get through the initial
stages however we understand that
sometimes the decision’s we make for
ourselves and our family as pet owners
aren’t always the ones we can follow
through on when navigating the pleasures
n’ pitfalls of our new family members. We
may feel our decisions were not right for
us after all.
We are sorry to learn of any owners
struggles & primarily the animals sadness
as they dont understand why they are
moving on. We are delighted to report that
Miriam isn’t struggling with suburban life,
anxiety, traffic, travelling, visitors or
walking and bounced into all these things
from as soon as she got into the car when
she was transferred and consistently
learning from that point on. Her tail was
between her legs as she left her previous
residence and the next minute she found
her mojo. Within moments of entering the
foster families bosom we had this update:-
“This beautiful girl has already sat on my
lap, licked my face and been outside in the
pen. Comfortable with my dogs. This is
just half an hour of meeting her. Mirium
wears the harness comfortably and walks
beautifully on the lead. Her recall improves
everyday and responds to both names
'Mirium' and 'Miri.'“
We have included a copy of the fosters
communications. It isn’t about a dog being
perfect or humans for that matter- it’s
about managing those ‘imperfections’ &
various traits & knowing we let them in
when we choose a partner or pet.
In no particular chronological order, the
fosters updates on this gorgeous collie X
gal from Miriam’s perspective.
A New Year update from Miriam (Miri)
“I spent ****************** with my foster family and
though it was cold, sleeping near the fire
at night kept the cold away. I sleep on a
comfy bed in the kitchen with a couple of
toys to chew.
I have my foster family well trained to let
me out if I bark so that I can go out to
toilet, though, not very often as I am happy
to snuggle down in my bed.
I love clean bedding, it makes me feel
giddy, loved and super happy.
I do enjoy my food and apparently I am the
perfect weight now. My coat has a glossy
shine and everyone admires my brown
button nose, my four white socks and
'Dobby like ears'....who?!
I love playing with my three buddies,
running around playing chase and hide &
seek. Playing with toys outside, always
sharing and being respectful has made me
popular. I no longer feel anxious around my
foster family and I am very keen to let
them know how much I appreciate them,
giving an abundance of kisses and
cuddles.
I do enjoy going out for walkies and feel
confident on the lead. I am told that I am a
'good girl' all the time, especially when I
come when called and go to my bed when
asked.
I did not realise that life had so much to
offer and I am told there are other human
families out there that could give me the
same time and love and even more. While I
wait for my forever family to find me, I shall
continue to grow in confidence and maybe
I shall start to sit when asked. My buddies
do this all the time!”
And again in the fosters words
“Hi Leesa,
Just a few observations regarding Mirium.
Mirium is a sweet, darling dog. She was a
very confused dog regarding human
relationships, how to make friends with
other dogs and toileting on arrival here
from her previous home. She is very loyal
to one person and can display possessive
behaviour. Clear, consistent boundaries
have been set in place to manage this.
Consequently, Miriam is less anxious, more
relaxed and friendly towards other people.
She has settled into a routine very quickly.
During the night, Mirium sleeps very well in
the kitchen, her appetite is good and
toilets successfully outside. A training mat
is still provided but has not been used
these past two days. She's working hard to
build friendships with my three and can
now intereract, play and understands the
etiquette of being part of a pack.
Miriam wears the harness comfortably and
walks beautifully on the lead. Her recall
improves everyday and responds to both
names 'Miriam' and 'Miri.' Miriam for
commanding and Miri for play and praise.
She does have a stubborn streak but
nothing concerning.
Her appetite is good, preferring the large
kibble. She shows no sign of food or toy
aggression.
To sum up: Mirium is a loving girl, whom
loves companionship and affection. She
could potentially fit into any household,
but, she does require effective support to
manage anxieties or possessiveness
during the initial integration into a new
household (after a second move from her
first home which is stressful). She is open
minded to new experiences and has a
happy demeanour.”
