Description

We recently re-homed Jax from a family in Nuneaton. They were re-homing due ill-health and time commitments. Since we’ve had him he’s been the loveliest boy, he loves people and loves going out in the car but most importantly he loves his ball. Unfortunately due to some personal family issues and how un-settled Jax still is in the home we’ve made the heartbreaking decision to re-home him. With him being young and still technically a puppy he is still nipping. This was worse when we first got him but we found allowing him to you and being calm around him has eased the issue but not got rid of it completely. He still does nip and go for our hands when he gets over-excited or has a lot of energy but tell him no firmly and he stops. Jax will need a home that can give him structure and routine and can be committed to walking him or proving mental stimulation for at least 2 hours every day. We currently walk him in the morning before work and later in the evening. He is crate trained and currently sleeps in his crate over night. When we first got him he would whine a little when we put him in his crate but now he settles in nicely with a treat or a toy. Because of how much he loves people he bonded with us really quickly which I think helped him settle in his crate. While I don’t think it’s necessary we believe the reason he’s struggling to settle is because his previous owners had a bigger house. I think he got used to the room and being able to have space to play with his ball and other toys. He will chuck his ball about for himself but because of the size our house he gets frustrated when it doesn’t go far. Jax is microchipped He is up to date with his vaccinations, flea and worming treatments. He currently is not neutered as his vet recommended to wait until he is 18 months to have him done. He gets on with others dogs, his previous owners had a female dog that was just smaller than him and they got on well. Obviously if you do have a dog we suggest they meet first before committing to Jax. However, he does chase cats so a cat free home is a must. Jax has lived with children before in his previous home but as he’s still quite young and boisterous we think a home with older children only would be better. He has mastered his basic training like sit, down, paw spin etc and we’ve been focusing on some new skills with him like heel and roll over. He does need some work around walking on a lead. When he knows the environment and is calm he can be really good on it but we do struggle with lead pulling when he’s excited or in a new area or around cars. We have started some training on this and seeing slow improvement but it will definitely need the most work. He is ok to be left in the house by himself, we typically leave him for 2-3 hours but his previous owners have left him for up to 7. They said as long as he gets his walks or exercise in he was okay. Jax would come with -Crate -Bed -Food bowl -Remaining food -Water bowl -Harness and Leads(including a car one) -Selection of toys and remaining treats We want to do what’s best for Jax and find a home that fits his needs. He won’t be going to anyone, we wanted to be his forever home but unfortunately it’s not worked out that way but the last thing we want to do is unsettle him even more by making the wrong decision or rushing into a new home for him. Feel free to reach out with any other questions you may have.
