πΎβ€οΈ FREYA β Looking for the Right Person, Not Just Any Person β€οΈπΎ
When we first introduced Freya, we told her story as a devoted mum who watched her puppies leave while she remained behind.
Thankfully, Freya found a home.
Sadly, that home has not worked out.
Not because Freya is a bad dog.
Not because she is aggressive.
But because Freya needs a very particular type of home and person to help her feel safe and understood.
So now we are looking again.
This time, we want to find her forever home.
Not just her next home.
πΆ About Freya
π Estimated Date of Birth: 15/03/2024
π Female
βοΈ Medium-sized
π Fully Vaccinated
βοΈ Spayed
π Microchipped
π The Freya We Know
Freya is a deeply affectionate girl once she trusts you.
She forms strong bonds and can become incredibly loyal to her chosen person.
She enjoys:
πΆ Walks and adventures
π‘ Home comforts
β€οΈ Affection from people she trusts
π³ Exploring outdoors
She is intelligent, observant and emotionally sensitive.
β οΈ Why Freya Needs a Special Home
Freya is not the type of dog who immediately loves everybody she meets.
She can be wary of strangers and is particularly uncomfortable around unfamiliar men.
In her current home she has:
Barked and growled at the male member of the household
Reacted defensively when feeling pressured
Shown reactivity towards other dogs
Occasionally used her mouth when overstimulated or uncomfortable
Because of this, Freya needs owners who understand canine body language and are prepared to work with her rather than against her.
πΎ What Type of Home Are We Looking For?
β
Freya would thrive with:
A confident and experienced dog owner
Someone familiar with rescue dogs
A calm, structured household
People willing to continue her training and confidence-building
Someone who understands that trust is earned, not demanded
β Freya would NOT suit:
First-time dog owners
Homes with young children
Busy households with lots of visitors
Homes where dogs frequently meet unfamiliar dogs
People looking for an easy-going social butterfly
π© Freya's Ideal Match
Based on her behaviour in her current home, we believe Freya may be happiest with:
β€οΈ A confident female owner
or
β€οΈ A female-led household with experienced adults who understand her boundaries
We are not saying Freya can never live with a man.
We are saying that any male family members must be patient, dog-savvy and prepared to allow Freya to build trust entirely at her own pace.
π Other Dogs
At present, Freya should be considered:
π« Best as the only dog in the home
While she may walk past dogs successfully with appropriate management, she has shown enough dog-reactive behaviour that we believe she will be happiest without sharing her home.
π‘ Freya's Ideal Home
A secure garden.
A predictable routine.
A calm environment.
An adopter who appreciates that some of the most rewarding dogs are not always the easiest dogs.
The person who adopts Freya will need patience, understanding and commitment.
But we firmly believe that the right person will discover a wonderfully loyal companion beneath her insecurities.
β€οΈ What We See in Freya
We do not see a bad dog.
We see a dog who likely never had the guidance, stability and socialisation she needed during important stages of her life.
We see a dog who has learned that caution is safer than trust.
And we see a dog who deserves somebody willing to help her rewrite that story.
π€ Our Promise & Your Commitment
As always, Friends InDeed Dog Rescue will provide:
β
Full rescue back-up
β
Lifetime support
β
Honest advice and guidance
In return, we are looking for a serious adopter who understands that Freya will need commitment, patience and sensible management.
π« Please do not enquire if you are looking for an easy first dog.
β
Please do enquire if you are experienced, realistic and prepared to invest time into a dog who needs understanding rather than sympathy.
